I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Just wondering about people taking the beacon pills at 20mg.Are you taking 4 or 5 pills a day since it’s lower strength than xeljanz.

I have been taking 4.  I never took the national brand but 4 from beacon has given me complete regrowth.

That's fantastic!!

Thank you for your reply Brock.

Were your Tofacinix from Beacon blue coloured?

My previous supplier they were white.

Thanks

That happens. My head became full and then for the last year I do have spots here and there - you can check my pics a couple of pages back. All this while taking 20mg.

So you lost hair when you was on 20mg? Or did you take a break from Xeljanz? Have a good day!

Thank you! I had such great recovery on 15 and 20. Surprised to see a spot out of no where. Wondered if it was because a string of doses missed.

Did they ever fully fill in?

I also have a low grade chronic infection for almost a year. I should be healed up pretty soon.

Hi everyone,

I have a concern and I need your advise.

I had Alopecia universalise for almost 22 years . I have been on Xeljanz for 2 years ( 20 mg) and I have complete regrowth but the hair is thin and still using wig.

since 4 months ago I have fungal nail infection which started on my big toe and now other fingers are infected ,I tried some anti fungal cream and now using apple cider vinegar and Vick’s ( just started ).

I visited my family physician and he advised to stop with Xeljanz because of invasive fungal infection risk with Xeljanz,to be honest I don’t like to stop with Xeljanz. There is an interaction between Xeljanz and oral antifungal medication.

is there anybody experienced this infection?

Have you tried soaking your foot in bleach water.

Hi ,

thank you so much for swift reply. I am really upset and almost crying .

i did not try bleach water and probiotica. I wil try it.

hello I do not know if it is related to xeljanz but your doctor should give you a treatment for your nail infection and it does not leave with the treatments stopped a while xeljanz the time that your infection disappears
