I'm 27 years old and have had alopecia universalis since I was 15. I am quite comfortable with it all now, and love helping others feel better about their alopecia too. I have a 7 year old son who is the best thing that every happened to me :) I'm vegetarian on the verge of vegan, I love animals and all living beings.
Hi Erin. Just read your response to Signe's forum about passing a.a. along to a baby. I saw that you also have rheumatoid arthritis. Me too. Guess I'm not the only member of this club!!! Yay us!!!! I've also got inflammatory arthritis (apparently not RA, but something similar), hypothyroidism, and a.a. heading towards a.u. However, no one else in my family has anything wrong with them -- past or present. I'm just hoping my three little girls stay healthy in every way. Take care!!
Hey Erin, my name's Katie and I just recently joined on here. I saw your page and I think you look great! You hair looks really good! So far I only have alopecia areata, but I get a few more spots every time it acts up so I'm trying to really prepare myself! I was hoping we could chat on here, or if you have a myspace? Well, hope to hear from you soon!
Hi Erin - I just happened across your page and had to mention a few things. First, I was really struck reading your story. You've not only had to deal w/ the loss and cultural context of Alopecia as a woman, but also some other auto-immune challenges. Anyway, I think you fucking rock...totally strong, centered, clear, nobody's victim, etc. So I just wanted to acknowledge that. I also had to let you know that I think that sleeve you're rockin on your left arm totally rulz! It looks like really beautiful work. Can't see the detail in your pix, but can see the composition and flow and it looks awsm! And lastly, just have to let you know that you have amazing style, are a completely beautiful woman and that you have excellent taste in whom you add to your friends list on here (just sent you a request)!!! :) Pretty funny, huh? You should see me once I get on a roll!
Hi Erin
Your pictures are great! You seem very well adjusted to having alopecia. I too live in Canada and have 3 daughters with amazing hair. Nice tattoo too, I've got a butterfly on my chest.
Hey, sorry it's been a while, my hotmail used to tell me when I had comments but it doesn't anymore so I havent gotten on here! So I have a question... I'm a little worried about how I'm going to explain my hair issues with my 2 year old daughter if it gets worse. I thought since you have a 3 year old you might have a suggestion or two?
You are beautiful. I love your look with a headscarf. I like your tattoos also.
My wife is bald with alopecia universalis, and like you, she is very beautiful. I love the way she looks bald, and with a headscarf. You can really see a beautiful woman's feminine features when she is bald. I prefer that look on a beautiful lady.
Hi Erin..Bob here..I couldnt help but notice you are a very old soul..Au?? Just a test..For me,it caused me to look inward,to the source of real wisdom..And to accept myself as is..Stay strong and proud..Bob : )..It all takes time..
Hey Erin. I just realized that you made a comment about my eyebrows a while back. I use a stencil and powder to apply them. I actually wrote a blog about the eyebrow stencils if you want to go back and read it. I think the stencil/powder/brush set are from 'Christian'. :)
Yeah the cat you incoporated was so awesome - I go back in like March or April - I have a snake going in and out of water and peonies - I think I m doing the snake in red and the water turqoiuse with softer shades of blue and the peonies in hot pink - I don't friggin know i go back and forth LOL but I think those are the colors i settled on - then I want a 1/4 sleeve like a shoulder cap on the other arm I will cross tha bridge when I get to it LOL
The loss of my eye lashes and sparse eye brows bothers me but what the hell are we going to do about it. You...are a beautiful woman with stunning eyes! I enjoyed reading your blog of march 16th. You are so honest and I have had and still have some of the same feelings about being able to let my hair down and let it blow in the wind...I used to have really nice long hair when I was younger...but oh well. For a woman it's easy to do brows but what the hell does a guy do....nothing?
thnks and i go to hans weimann now and there hair is amazing
deffently we will keep in toch really i dont have any friends
jsut the ppl i talk to on here
Hi Erin,
I didn't realize you were in Mb. We are in the Peg. I am a high school teacher on leave at the moment. How about yourself? I do know of a couple other people through other friends that have AA. Could I ask where you got your hairpieces. You look fantastic!!
Well what a small world!! I really dont know alot of people here, even tho Ive been here for 9 years lol What is your sisters name, and why in the world is she in Ste Anne??? hehehe
There is a teacher in town who has Alopecia as well and goes bald all the time. Have never met her but Im sure our paths will cross one of these days.
I have a ton of wigs lol every style and color that I could never do with my own hair. I really only wear them in the winter tho, the new hat lol In the summer I wear scarves mostly and my straw hat when riding. Would go bald if I didnt have to worry about sunburn.
I went thru some of my wigs yesterday in order to "thin the herd". I have 13 on stands, a bag full to donate to Cancer Care or anywhere else that can use them, about a dozen that I can wear with a headband or could be wearable if trimmed and not sure how many that I havent gotten to yet. I order them online. They are so cheap that I just order anything that I think might look good, and umm most dont lol well not on me. One that was really cute, but looked like crap on me would probably look good on you. Its very very blonde and the asymetrical cut. I think it was called a Victoria Beckman style. That one was one of the more expensive ones 50.00 LOLOL Ill have to get a picture of my collection.
I could never find a scarf that I liked so I designed my own and now sell them on ebay. I had sold "treasures" on ebay for years but now just sell my scarves. Im in the midst of getting a pattent for them, lots of red tape to go thru there but hopefully once thats done I can get them into stores.
Does Andrea live right in town or are they in the country? We are about 5 miles north of town on 10 acres. I know my immediate neighbors, and anyone who horseback rides in the area and the girls in the post office, thats about it. Does she like to play ball? There is a womans team in town that get together mostly to just have fun. Not me, but I know one of the girls who plays and they are always looking for new members.
I have a 4 year old grandson who lives in town with his dad. We have a pony here for him so if your sisters little one ever wants a pony ride they should come out and visit.
I made stands for some, others i leave in the box and store on shelf, others are in their nets and bags in a rubbermaid container. I posted some pics in my album. Shows the stands.
my email address is skcricket@hotmail.com, you can contact me thru there as well. i can send you the pics of the scarves i have on hand, but can make up different colors anytime.
Thanks for the add Erin! I really like all of your wigs- are they lace? vacuum? I just got a full lace wig recently and I love it! Talk to you soon, Natalie
thank you for your insightful story on self!

Hello there Erin. Thank you for posting your positive comments about your situation, about your view on life. You're right, I also think "What am I complaining about?" There are so many other unfortunate situations out there in this world. And you pointed out that we all sometimes look for new hair growth, etc, and really I feel tired of doing it. I'm so tired of doctors and their nonsense, tired of spending my hard-earned money on numerous supplements, etc. and worrying about this. This site, and people like you are encouraging for me to get on with my life and quit worring, accept what is happening, and move on. Whoever can't accept this, or the 'new me' when I shave off the rest will be missing out. ha! Thank you again. also, I think you're quite lovely in all your wigs and bald too, and your tattoos! Man I want one, a peacock feather, intricate but vibrant on my back :-) I've seen a few of them at the airport, they're gorgeous! Take care, enjoy as you have been! -Sarah K.

Are your wigs synthetic or HH? They look so real. Are they very comfortable?

time to send messages to all your friends, telling them how much you care about them.
Without friends
you would be missing out on a lot.
A friend should be radical;
They should love you when you're unlovable,
Hug you when you're unhuggable,
And bear you when you're unbearable.
A friend should be fanatical;
They should cheer when the whole world boos,
Dance when you get good news,
And cry when you cry.
But most of all, a friend should be mathematical,
They should multiply the joy, Divide the sorrow,
Subtract the past, And add to tomorrow,
Calculate the need deep within your heart,
And always be bigger than the sum of all their parts.
I care about you.
Have a nice day, and
I'm glad we are friends!!! Delete Comment
