Two years ago, March, 2011 to be exact, I incurred my first bald spot. 5 months later I was completely bald. I had never heard of Alopecia…now Alopecia was controlling my emotions, actions and my entire life. I did not want to venture out in public with my condition and taking pictures was a no-no. And when I did leave my home, I did so in complete fear of people staring at me and whispering under their breath about me. I tried to smile but I didn’t mean it… I was too heartbroken. I was…

IT IS SETTLED...I KNOW WHAT I WANT!

Posted on April 6, 2012 at 10:00am 17 Comments

I have to say these words..."I really want my hair back!" Now that I got that out I can be candid. I had to be honest with myself and I did. I said those words and I believe those words to be the desire of my heart. That is my faith...to believe that which I do not have... to possess in my future which I can not see, but I see. I know sounds crazy but isn't this whole situation crazy? I have lamented over my hair loss and it's true I stayed in that place for a while. Now, I am on the other…

First Bald-Headed Lady

Posted on November 9, 2011 at 4:30pm 13 Comments

I am a First Lady. I am the wife of a pastor of a church in Houston. I am also a preacher. I have alopecia. I am bald headed. Wow! What a relief that was. I was told by a preacher friend of mines not to share my condition with anyone at the church for fear that they would mock me or spread rumors about me. I wore wigs and hats and covered the shame of a bald head and bald spots. I cry late at night and all throughout the day not able to share my pain with anyone. I am fearful of their…

Sis, you have a ministry.  I am thankful for all that you shared.  I went to Aruba last summer and visited the Aloe factory.  I spent too much money on Aloe and when I saw your video where you took the aloe plant and rubbed it in your hair, I did the same thing.  I have my wig on today and I hate it.  I'm taking biotin and will pick up my colbetesol prescription today.  Did you use any of that?  Unfortunately, the stress is at work.  I have a big grant due in January and my boss has been putting pressure on me to have a draft this summer.   I've already talked to him, but I need to work on me as well.  Thank you for your advice and responding.  I have pictures on my site.

Hi Theresa! Yes, there is a group in the Houston area (Clearlake). They had a get-together not too long ago, but I was unable to attend. Donna Jerz is the organizer. I can PM her email address when I get home.

Wow - I needed your inspiration today. This hair loss for me has been such a test of my faith. I am trying to figure out what lesson does God want me to learn from this. But I have not figured it out yet. This hair lost has me captive and I am letting it control my life.
