It's incredible how many beautiful women just like me are on here! I'm always resisting participating in Alopecia themed things but this is really helping me. You don't realize how isolating this condition can be. Everyone struggles with confidence and self-esteem but with a visible condition like Alopecia it can be amplified and cause a big time distorted self image. In short I like understanding that I'm not the only "freak" and I mean that in the kindest way possible and am only speaking for…

I am 15 and a sophomore in high school. I have alopecia areata and the past couple of months more and more of my hair has been coming out. Only my closest friends know about my hair, and i am very scared that in the coming months all of my hair may come out. What will people say? What will they think? Will my friends stay by my side? Will people talk bad about me? All of these things and more are passing through my head and it scared me to death. I used to have such thick and beautiful hair,…

Why is it when others give advice about so-called treatments ie special diet/acupuncture/holistic/chinese herbs etc and I don't immediately say hey that's a great idea I'll try that today, they get that look or tone that says you poor closed minded woman you aren't open to any help so it's your own fault if your hair doesn't grow back! I've had this conversation so many times it's getting old. These days I just nod politely and move on. However, some people don't know when to back off. Even…

So over the past year I've had a lot and ups and downs with my AA. To start I guess I should tell you I've had AA since i was 10, and 15 years later here I am! All through out middle school and high school I just had a really weird hairline in the front while the rest of my head was covered in thick brown hair. Towards the end of high school my eyebrows fell out and my hairline had receded 2+ inches from where is normally is. Over the past 9 yrs I have done topical injections, systemic…

So most of you know I went to get my thyroid tested (came back negative) but on March 31st while at work I spun in my chair to get up and ended up spinning, standing up, and going down to the floor. In the ER that night I was diagnosed with a lovely case of Vertigo. For those of you that don't know what it is, it is explains by wiki:
"is a type of dizziness, where there is a feeling of motion when one is stationary. The symptoms are due to a dysfunction of the vestibular system in…

Hi Everyone!!
I wanted put up a quick post to let you know I am finally able to get back on the website!! For some reason over a year ago I tried to login using the email I had always used and the website told me that email address did not exist. Watching tonight the new singing show The Voice. A beautiful bald woman walks out on to the stage and rocks a song. The woman Frenchie Davis. Dont know if she has alopecia or just loves the look, but does it really matter???? Hell NO!! Bald and Fabulous rocking it out on tv !!!!!
Oh and the basis of this show as oppose to American Idol, they do blind auditions. Meaning the judges are not allowed to see the contestants until they decide they love their voices.

Hello:)
I was wondering if anyone has found an extremely realistic wig. I would really like to be able to pull my (wig) hair behind my ears and not have to worry about it looking unnatural. I play a lot of sports and need to be able to pull my hair back. Cost isn't an issue. I currently have a locks of love piece, but i have had it for a few years now and it is starting to fall apart. The only problem with the locks of love wig is that the hairline didn't look very convincing, and i always…

When I lost most of my hair it was March 2011 and I took the necessary precautions wearing scarves, hats, buffs, etc. I noticed I felt the cold a lot faster than when I had some hair on my head.
I'm finding that now that it is getting hotter outside, my head sweats! Man! And the sweat goes right to my ears. never realized hair kept that from happening.
On another note, I'm losing my eyebrows. I have pretty much very thick Groucho-Marx-like eyebrows. I notice that I don't…

Hi...i've had AA, AT and AU for most of my life and have also always had many allergies, mainly to perfumes or fragrances in products. I've never really put the two together but as I got older and my Alopecia changed from stage to stage, my perfume sensitiviy also got stronger. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced the same thing or if its just simply that I have an allergy to perfume.

I was reading the Jewish Chronicle the other day and there was an article about a man named: Philip Levine. Since going bald he decided to use his head as a canvas for art. I really like this idea! He has a couple of websites, so check them out:

Recently, a Redditor wrote Valve Software Company to inquire about the bald guy in the Valve logo pictured here. The Redditor got this really cool response from Ray Ueno:
I worked with Gabe and team to develop the "guy in the logo" back when we first named the company, Valve (circa 1995/6), and…
