Haven't been on here in forever!

I barely ever get on here, mainly becuase I forgot I even had an account until I got an email from them. So I guess I will talk about what's going on with me currently. With alopecia, I have not had any hair growth in more than 5 years. I am actually used to it and just wear a wig full time. It's kind of like a security blanket for me and I barely ever take it off, which is totally fine with me because I don't feel a need to not wear it. I haven't had eyelashes or eyebrows in a couple of years,… Continue

Frustrating update

To those that actually keep up on my sporatic blogs and more specifically those who were interested in the discrmination lawsuit against my old workplace, I finally got a response!! After a two week delay, I finally have it and these people haven't the slightest clue! They mentioned things that I had apparently said but didn't, things I had done but had permission to do and here's the biggest kick in the pants: I wasn't given my promotion because they hired someone else out of prejudice… Continue

Shedding like crazy! Is there anything that I can do?

Hey Ya'll!! I'm just wondering, is there anything know to you that would help stop or slow down the shedding?!! I can't stand it anymore! I think you AT and AU people are almost better off because you don't have to deal with it!! I cant stand it and it's driving me crazy!! Is the only thing that I can do is shave my head?! I'm just not there yet!! My doctor told me that after I got the steroid shots, it should slow down, but it has not!! I'm so worn out by this, and knowing that I will have to… Continue

I Look Sick

"This disease must be doing wonders for my appearance, because people keep telling me how good I look."

I saw that on a sight called http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com which is created by a young woman with Lupus. For anyone living with a chronic illness that can't explain it to your friends and family, she has a story called "The Spoon Theory" which you should read. I didn't think I looked sick when I was able to do makeup, etc, just… Continue

Just curious

My older brother and I were both blessed with very thick hair and cursed with AA. (Ok so it doesnt always feel like a curse but today it does!)
I've had it 10 years (most active the last 5) and his just started this year, and I'm curious does Alopecia affect more people with thick or thin hair Or am I just over tired and thinking too much lol

RE:Statistic: AT and AU are 5-7% of the 1-2% (4million) people that have AA??

Het Ya'll!
Have you guys heard of this statistic before? That would mean that only about 200,000-280,000 people actually get AT or AU and the rest never do?? So where are those people??? I have not really met any on this site or anywhere else on the internet. Could this be a wrong statistic? It seems like to me, mostly everyone that has AA, eventually gets AT and or AU after a while. Thanks for any feedback!!

Dating?

Ok, so no major deal - I've been single for the past year now, after an 11 year relationship. The truth is I hate being alone but I also don't get much of an opportunity to go out and meet people because I have the kids at home. It's hard enough to meet the right someone when you have alopecia let alone with a few kids at home and I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever get to meet someone special. It's not that I'm totally dependant on someone but I'm a snuggler and I really miss having someone… Continue
