So I haven't written a blog post in quite a while, it seems that I had forgotten that my Alopecia even existed for a while! A lot of you will be thinking that that is the worst thing to do, because it always seems to come back with a vengance, but not this time.

I suffer from AA, but when my hair starts to fall out it all goes from my head, but then after a while I do get regrowth! So the last time I fully lost my hair was Christmas 2013, it is now the summer of 2015! Yes I have lost…

Found my first bald spot

It's finally apparent. I found a wide bald spot in the bang area where my part is. No matter how I style it it still shows. Trying not to panic but it's hard. Really need some encouraging words right now. Someone...anyone...

My story

Hi all!

I decided today to look at some alopecia websites today for the first time. I had an idea that a lot of people have alopecia but I had NO idea how badly some people struggle with it. Reading some of the posts below put things into perspective for me so I decided to tell you all about my alopecia story.

I am now 20 years old and I have alopecia universalis. I got it around this time 3 years ago. It didn’t all fall out at once. First it was a slight loss of my eyelashes.…

Steve 2.0

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site as off yesterday but not new to alopecia unfortunately. I am a 24 years old male, currently living in the highlands of Scotland and I have had alopecia for roughly 6 years now. At first my alopecia started off as AA and then slowly developed over to AT where it currently still sits. I have had patches off slight regrowth but nothing major. Currently I have lost about 90% off my scalp hair, 50% off my eyelashes and my eyebrows are roughly…

If you shave it all off

Hi - I have FFA, took years for the doctors to take it seriously.

I have had the cortisones, NSAID , and minoxidil  and have had reactions to first two. Moon face, neuropathy.

The hair just keeps getting thinner and I am 59.

I hate the itching - it never seems to actually stop.

It is spoiling so much in my day to day life, worst days being stressed days and the ones with flares.

I am healthy eater, do like wine, not much dairy but its there.

I…

Feeling free

Saturday was a big day for me. I was chief bridesmaid at my cousins wedding and it was also the day I told everyone about alopecia on facebook. It's a little overwhelming the amount of support I've had , finally I feel free to be me and have some fun with it. Saturday I was long blond and wavy Sunday was long dark and straight. Now I'm dark straight in a bob. It's such easier being open about it than hiding it. I'm still really nervous about work and doing the school run but I'll face those… Continue

Here we go, I can't run from this problem

I'm new to this, they haven't even diagnosed me yet but one thing is for sure, I had, up until 4 weeks ago beautiful, thick and curly hair. I've lost more then half all over and now I'm noticing thinning spots around my temples and the rest of my hair line. And what's scary is I'm watching it get thinner and thinner. It's fast man. My hair is everything to me, to me it makes me. After a slew of blood tests, and tons of questions my dermatologist is very curious about me and my symptoms. I've…

Steroid shots every two weeks for 12 year old?

Hi There

I am new to this and have a 12 year old and his hair is rapidly leaving before our eyes.  A friend of mine sends her 12 year old to Colombia Presbyterian in NYC and the treatment there is shots every two weeks.  I am on the west coast and doctors advise every 4 weeks.  Does anyone have info about this? Her dr. claims the frequent shots can help shut down the immune reaction and actually help stop the loss as it is occurring.  She is quite a respected dermatologist and I dont…

New me

For the last 30 years I've pretty much felt uncomfortable and an outcast because of losing all my hair since I was 8. I never had anyone to talk to who I could relate to and as a result was bullied a lot and lost all my self confidence. Lately I've begun to feel like I don't care as much anymore what people thing and I've decided to start having fun with it. I've bought 3 different wigs 2 brown 1 long 1 shoulder lent and a long blond one. I won't lie I'm nervous about wearing them because my… Continue

Do anyone know of a cure for alopecia? I have heard that some medicines can reverse alopecia, but so many on the market and I wonder do they work. I also heard that vagina yeast cream have grew  peoples hair back I never tried it but I am going to.    I guess when you are desperate you try anything.

Paranoid of trusting my hair won't fall out again

I am 37 and have had alopecia since i was 16. For the most part, I have been lucky. Id only have a quarter size patch underneath u couldnt see...until 3 years ago when i had breast reduction surgery for which i was anesthetized. I know there is a connection to this, but not my main focus here. In the last several months i have been sticking to a strict vitamin regimen. I believe the MSM portion has helped me grow much of my hair back. I have been on the fence waiting for Xeljanz or…

We need a young female friend with alopecia for our daughter Allison,6

Hi all, We are looking for a friend with alopecia for our daughter who is six years old and going into first grade. We live in Plantation, FL and have only met a few people with alopecia. I want my daughter to have a friend she can share her strength and weaknesses with, a child that will understand and hopefully be friends with for life. We all know how difficult it is to have alopecia and in our daughters case, Universalis. I try to be everything for her but I know she needs someone her…

Newly Diagnosed

Hi All

Not sure if I am in the right place, I saw there was an area for parents.  My son is 12 and is losing large areas of hair now on the side of his head - it happened rather slowly, and we thought it was triciliomania, since he was pulling it. Now however it is coming out in clumps. I am trying not to alarm him, but it seems to only be speeding up. We see new dermatologist tomorrow and he is on a steroid creme, but I just want it to stop and it seems to be only getting worse.  I…
