Hey all! I was wondering if anyone has experienced any negative eye issues/blindness with receiving the Kenalog shots in the scalp? I have heard that some people have become blind for these shots in the scalp!! I got some more shots this Monday and my eyes feel like they are burning a little bit but otherwise they are ok. Please give me any feedback if you know someone that has experienced eye issues or not! If you have not had any eye issues with the shots, let me know as well!…

I am thinking of starting an Alopecia support group in my area. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to go about starting one? What materials do I need for the first meeting? How long should the meetings be? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem: I go to read a blog or someone's comment on my profile and it kicks me back to the AW home page. Is it me or is this happening to anyone else?

I pulled up to the pharmacy drive-thru and the clerk asked for my name. She came back and forth to the window getting various information. After all the formalities she said, "you know, there's not a lot of women who can pull that off."
People look at you once, then twice, and most likely a third time before going about their business. But I'm very thankful for the few that stop and take a moment to make me smile.

Hey everybody,
My daughter is now 3 months old. My hair started to regrow when I was about 24 weeks pregnant and now I have enough hair on my head to almost go without a wig. It'S still quiiet short, like a guys haircut but it'S growing really fast!
My body hair is growing, too and I had to shave my legs for the first time (in ages) a week ago. My eyebrows and eyelashes are there, too!!
I'm hoping so much that my hair is not going to fall out again after…

Hey everyone!
Alopeciapalooza 2009 was held in Philadelphia and was attended by 52 families with 65 alopecians making our first convention a huge success! A little over 200 people building self-esteem, providing support and raising awareness in the City of Brotherly Love!
We have done a lot of work in finding the next host city of Alopeciapalooza and have norrowed it down to Baltimore and Chicago. Both are great cities with much to offer but only one can be the host city.…

Hello all.... i must tell you all first that I am feeling much better, that bit of depression has past, and I am so thankful :)
Yesterday was a very special day for me and for all my friends with Alopecia!!! I went up to LA to meet Carl Carlyle, playwright, writer of "Bald: The Hairless Musical" He needed actors for his promotional video to show the investors, you know, the people who pay to put the play on, and I was lucky enough to be able to partake.... The score was so catchy!!! The…

I can't help it. I just love this amazing support community and the invaluable contributions that so many of you make to it. Not only do I appreciate each and every one of you, but I truly admire you as well. Your compassion, your courage, your resiliency, and your determination inspire me in more ways than I can count or chronicle. I will always be profoundly grateful, not only for what you've made Alopecia World, but even more so for what you're making of yourself. :-)

I will definitely have to upload some new photos, if only to show off my new head fuzz! I can't believe I'm this excited about a bit of stubble but what the hey! It's coming back thick and black! Even though I was a natural blonde! Weird! shame that its not everywhere, darn AA!!! But never mind, still bald (ish) and proud :)

OKAY SO THIS IS KIND OF WEIRD FOR ME...VERY WEIRD FOR ME. ABOUT 2 TO 3 MONTHS AGO I NOTICED THAT I HAD SCATTERED PATCHES OF HAIR ON MY SCALP GROWING, AS WELL AS MY EYEBROWS AND EYELASHES WERE GROWING BACK. NOW I HAVEN'T HAD A STRAND OF HAIR ON MY HEAD FOR ABOUT 2 1/2 -3 YEARS. SO WHEN I FELT THE FINE PIECES OF HAIR ON MY HEAD I FELT WEIRD. I DONT WANT TO GET EXCITED BECAUSE THE DOCTORS HAVE ALL FORWARNED ME THAT IF I EXPERIENCED REGROWTH AND MY HAIR GREW COMPLETELY BACK ITS A VERY HIGH CHANCE…

I have a friend that thinks it works and today at the massage therapist she noticed I had 4 lashes and suggested that I try it. She said a client of hers has been using it on her "normal" lashes and now doesn't even use mascara! She sounded so postivie I'm thinking of trying it, but want to hear if anyone has any thoughts, comments, etc.
Thanks

So this is my first blog on here. I A friend suggested I blog to get out these feelings of helplessness. So here goes.
At the end of June this year, I discovered a small quarter sized bald spot on the back right side of my head. ( A coworker pointed it out.) I ran to my computer and took a picture of it since it's in the back and I can't see it. Naturally, I freaked out. I called a hair replacement specialist, who was kind enough to see me on a free consultation. He took one look and…

AW member Inez edits a beautiful magazine about alopecia areata, and she asked to use my blog post "Coming Out Bald at the Synagogue - What the Bible Says About Baldness", and some photos. I just received a copy of the magazine, and it's beautiful - full of articles and photos about alopecia and alopecians. I sure wish I read Dutch, though. We need a magazine like this in the US! There is also a photo of AW member Karina Louise in this issue. See photos on my page. Thanks, Inez - great work!

Growning up with Alopecia was not easy for me or my family. I used to sit on the end of my grandmother's bed and cry to her because I was afraid that my baldspots would progress from the size of quarters to cover my whole head. I was given the response many times over that my hair would grow back and that I shouldn't be crying. At fouteen my older brother cried as he cut what little hair was left off of my head as I clutched my stuffed cat Mystery with silent tears sliding down my face. Some…

BALD! I get so tickled when a little kid points out to their mom or dad that I am bald. The look of terror on the parent's face, the intense stare of the child, and a little smile from me make a great moment. I could probably count at least 15 times in the past month that a child has pointed out my baldness. These kids have truly lightened my soul and slowed me down in such a fast paced world. We often ignore things that need to be seen around us, but a lot can be learned from a child's…

Hi all,
I just came to the realisation that being bald means nothing in the light of finding love or someone to share a tender, meaningful moment with.
I am beautiful no matter what. I have wonderful eyes, an amazing personality, a gorgeous, womanly, curvaceous body which I appreciate.
There are men out there that (and women too!) that only want you for a fuck whether you are blind, deaf, bald, have acne, etc etc, or because you are hot, have beautiful hair, none of this matters…

It is nearly that time of the year when I have to start looking for some new hats to wear. The summer is gone and autumn is getting chilli. Winter will soon be here and my head is starting to feel the cold already.
I cannot decide exactly what style of hats to wear this year. In the past I have simply worn beanie type hats but perhaps this year I will try something a bit different. A friend of mine has suggested a Theodora. What on earth is that I hear someone say? Well it’s a bit…
