Runny nose

Does anyone else suffer from an extremely runny nose due to the lack of or no nose hair at all????

I have come to the conclusion that my nose is a never ending faucet due to the fact that I have no noise hair and it causes my nose to be sensitive to a lot of things and smells?

PLEASE let me know if any of you guys have experienced or are experiencing this right now.

Thanks!

Montoya!

Do I cut the hair I have or leave it???

Hello Everyone!! I sure would love some input from you guys. I have alopecia areata ophiasis. I do not have hair on the back of my head and it appears that the alopecia is going to continue up the middle of my head. The hair I have (sides and some on top) is a little longer then shoulder length. I kept it long to try and cover the balding areas, creative hair styling and pyschological reasons I guess. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. ANYWAY....I digress...sorry. My question to ya all… Continue

what to do?

Well it was happening again after 80% regrowth my hair is fallin out again, I am fed up and actually really depressed about it. I find it very hard now to talk about it and admit to people who dont know about my alopecia, I think people can change once they hear something like this. Not sure if i should seek counselling or just need to grow some balls and man up.

I hate synthetic wigs and as i get them from the nhs i asked if i could get a human hair wig as i can only get my natural colour… Continue

It's Not Our "Fault!"

Genes found for alopecia areata, a kind of hair loss

June 30, 2010 | 7:18 pmAfter a scanning the human genome for tiny DNA differences, researchers say they've uncovered clues to several genes involved in alopecia areata, in which patches of hair -- or all hair -- are lost from the scalp or full body.

Yes, yes, we hear you yawn, another day, another whole-genome scan, reporting genes-linked-to-something-we-already-knew-had-a-heritable-component. But to find out… Continue

I don't know why I stay away:)

It has been awhile since I have visited, I don't know why I stay away, I love, love reading everyone's blogs. I am brought to tears, and inspired every single time:)

I have a question to pose to my fellow alopecian's...When interviewing for a job when do you bring up the subject of alopecia? I wear scarves and hats and know that many people take one look at me and assume cancer. So what about for a job interview? I look forward to hearing what you all think:)

I

My names Tina. I just turned 18, I was diagnosed with AA when I was 17. I really just want to talk to someone who is having the same struggles as I am. Its very hard not personally knowing anyone with this. I still have some of my hair, I just wish it was all of it. I'm so embarrassed to have to wear extensions, I try not to tell anyone. I will be honest: I completely HATE alopecia. Its been hard coming to terms with. I know I will eventually feel better about it. I see people on here that can… Continue

sleep in wig?

I would not recommend sleeping in the wig. It stretches the elastic.

You never know what you have until it's gone!

I'm talking about nose hairs. Really!! I never knew what the purpose was until I lost them. Now if my nose is runny, I better be really close to a box of tissues or it will drip right out of my nose. Not only that, I always have something in my darn eye now too. Good grief, if nothing else grows back..... please Lord give me my eye lashes and nose hairs. Amen.

Pampering & disaster

So this morning I decided it was time for me to not isolate myself which is what I been doing lately, and I decided it's time for a little pampering.
Went out got my nails done, timmies, shopping and bought a brow pencil to color in some brows and OMG what a disaster i made. I hate it and I have no clue how to color them in. I got the right color ( dark blond) as I normally like my blond wigs.
God sure didn't make things easy when he took away my hairs and brows :(

Frustrated

I've had my new wig (Codi by Amore) for only one month & it's already super frizzy. Well, the long layers anyway. The back that is short is still great but not the front. SO frustrating. I think I might have to stay away from A-line bob hairstyles because this happens to me all the time wearing A-line hairstyles. Ugh.

Freedom of choice

We all have a freedom of choice who we "accept" as friends on here, to whose opinions we respond, how we change our profile words, headings or photos, and what we wear on our heads. For me, I tend to stay away from trouble once I see that my words will have no impact for change or peace, or when I sense someone who has never even had a discussion with me suddenly wants to snoop at my personal conversation history or photos, and is very persistent about it only after seeing a certain photo in… Continue

Here we go again :(

I hadn't been on here for a bit, I'd been trying not to think about it. I went ahead and got the shots in two of my spots nd they seemed to work, but now my hair is thinning again and I counted around six new spots. They're small now but that's how it all started. My scalp is so itchy and sensitive to the touch, when I take a shower clumps nd clumps fall out. Today I was even scared of brushing my hair cause I didn't want to see how much I'm losing. It's really upsetting me and no one… Continue

Loss of brows

For a while now I had thinning brows and knew eventually they would be gone, except yesterday I woke up and had no brows, I cried alot over it, I felt like an alien with no hair, no brows, my lashes are very very thin, I was so upset over this and never told my hubby and the funny thing was he and no one else in my household noticed anything!! Considering my brows were fairly dark.

That just made it little easier for me knowing they either really didn't notice or they did and didn't want… Continue
