Hello all my bald and beautiful people! I just wanted to ask if any of you know of any great and inexpensive products to use on your head that help prevent sun damage, dandruff and dryness? I use olive oil hair lotion but not sure if that is best? Also, what is a great way to shave your head? I have clippers and I shave mine myself but it doesn't even out the shiny bald areas...I am thinking about going shiny bald and am not feeling the whole razor idea...but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta…

Well I've had about 4 months of regrowth and had a real funky still going on. I still had one patch on the side of my head but in the place that lots of girls are shaving for fashion at the minute and I have a tattoo on it so it looked like I did it on purpose. But this week I've had 2 stressful uni work deadlines and low and behold two little circular patches have appeared which I can't hide because my hair isn't long enough yet. Besides I have never had a flare up of alopecia that has not led…

SO my lashes are finally going. I say finally like I was expecting this. In many ways, I was. And in many others, I was hoping that they would at least stay because knowing myself, I knew I would have to learn how to finally apply false eyelashes and man am I having a hard time with it. It was funny when I couldn't get them to look even! One up, one down! So anyways, but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it and am not as panicky when I apply them. If not, I find drawing on a thick line,…

Im grinding my teeth in my dreams,
i cant ever remember them,
i wake up drowned with sweat,
Feeling like ive been through a fight and relieved to have woken up,
turn the pillow over and try to find a dry spot without waking anyone,
soon as i instigate a movement, she turns to give me space--
How does she,a normal woman get the strength to get through this,
7 out of 10 nights this is the case ,
Im up now writing this so she can get a bit of…

Hi all, I hope you are doing well..So I wanna give an uptake on my progress of my hair..My hair seems to be growing in in the spots that were bald and coalaced into one big spot due to the injections..Now it seems that since my hair is growing back I am getting new spots in the same area, but different spots..It also seems as though I have diffuse Alopecia on top of this AA..I am losing an enormous amount of hair and I am not sure where I am losing it from..Whether it be from the two bald spots…

I got my first wig in February and I am still getting used to it in some ways, but have a question. Throughout the day my wig shifts back and I find myself pulling it down in front. I bought a gel headband, but that doesn't seem to stay in place(I think that is more for when I don't have any hair on my head). I don't know if it just means that I need to trim my hair more, or what I should do.
Anyone have any pointers on what I can do? Anything to make it stay in place better? I can't…

So it has been about a month since I got my wig(my first one). I feel much more confident, but at times it feels like there is a stranger looking back at me in the mirror or in pictures. I used to take pictures of myself in the morning (every morning) and send it to my bestie, but I just don't like the pictures cuz it doesn't really look like me.
I am not questioning my decision at all, but just wondering if anyone else had this feeling in the beginning?
I know it has to…

Hey guys,
Well when I bought my wig, I asked the guy how to care for and clean them and he wouldn't tell me. He just told me to bring it back to him and pay $30 every time I need it washed....Well that's not going to happen because that's a lot of money that will add up, and he is about an hours and a half from me....So I am having to google my way around figuring how to keep this thing nice.
So any advice you guys have I would GREATLY appreciate it =)
Best brands and types of…

I had my "coming out" for lack of a better term last night. One week ago yesterday I had what was left of my hair buzzed off. Alopecia claimed most of the hair on my head.
I am a singer/songwriter. I had a gig yesterday at Philadelphia's premiere listening room, The Tin Angel. I opened for Vance Gilbert. I've played the Tin many, many times, but never without hair. While I've been walking around bald for one week, this was the first time a large amount of people who both were fans…

I dunno, I really don't. I'm a little confused right now as to what my body is trying to do. I have had AT for almost a year and a half. (gees its gone quickly now that I think about it). Had my ups and downs for about 1 year. I must say I have been extremely good for about 4 months now. Changes?? From having no body hair at all head to toe, I am seeing it re-appear. My under arm hair, from none, to white, to dark & having to shave again. White and dark leg & arm hairs appearing in…

Had a bout with a little depression yesterday. Didn't sleep well, got my hair cut short to fit better under my wigs. I liked (like) the cut but really wished that I could just have my own hair! By the end of the day though I was feeling better. My daughter and her partner are visiting for a whole week and we will have fun!

I am soo tired of people complimenting my hair and then when i say "thanks" they follow it up with "its so shiny hard to believe that's not a wig" SERIOUSLY!?! I mean even if you suspected it was a wig why would you say that or ever ask a stranger a question like that? to me it just seems rude. I am tired of my "hair" being shiny. I am tired of not feeling like i am normal. I dont feel I should have to tell people, its not really anyones business. I had a situation last weekend where my…

I was thinking about everything and wondering when it is that everyone noticed their first patch. Did it appear after a traumatic or stressful event? Was it completely out of the blue? Tell me your story.

Why am I sooo afraid to tell people that I have known for pretty much my whole life, people that I used to school with
Family, cousins, friends... the list goes on.
I HAVE ALOPECIA, yep, that means I am bald, I have no hair, head to toe, yep BALD.
Yet, people I am meeting now, I have no issues with telling them. That once I do tell them, I feel a whole lot of relief.
A relief that i think, hmmm are these people staring at me, can they tell I'm wearing a wig?
Shittt, I…

I was diagnosed with AA in May of 09. I received injections and my hair has partially grown back. I can cover pretty well and don't wear the scarves anymore. My Grandmother had Universalis but not until her 70's. Last night I noticed a bald spot on my 6 year-old son's head. It's only about the size of a dime. I called my dermatologist. Am I over reacting?

You know the scene in the movies where the mini mes sit on your shoulders speaking in your ears????
Lately I have found that is what Im experiencing.
Its like one moment Im loving my bald look, I have a nice shaped head, and I like the smoothness. Shaving was the far better option as oppose to living like I was.
But in the very next breath, I get all sad.....I really have no hair. I will run my hands over my head and there is nothing. There really is nothing. Maybe for a little…
