Can i dye my hair?

Hello, everyone! I am thinking about dying my hair a lighter color so the contrast of the spots and my dark hair is less noticable. Does anyone know if this is could be damaging and possibly cause more balding to occur?

Please tell me what you think!

My hair is beginning to grow back again. While I notice that I become happier and more outgoing when this happens I'm now not even wanting to deal with the whole regrowth. You know, the fine hair that begins to come in that sometimes doesn't look all that nice for awhile yet you're so happy to get. I'm still kind of wanting to shave my hair off completely. It seems like it would feel so refreshing and like it would be such a release. Like, "There, it's gone. Now who cares if it falls out or… Continue

Ingrown hairs?

Hey all,

I was just wondering something and this might be a weird question, but has anyone experienced ingrown hairs where they have lost hair but gaining some regrowth? I have noticed a few marks on my skin and this is the only explanation I can think of.

In the News!!!

I can't believe no one is talking about this so I had to post. Researchers at Columbia University have discovered the 8 genes where Alopecia lies. This is a huge step forward. These are a few links I have found.

Regrowth

Hi all. I don't know what to make of this. Just a quick rundown of me. My first spot appeared about a year ago and since then grow a mind of its own and started to creep all over my head. 13 March 2010 i cut my hair all off for cancer "with hope" my hair will get the hint and grow back. but only to find out about the rest of the little self minded spot on my head. So i got a HEADBLADE (THANK GOODNESS THERE IS A COMPANY IN SOUTH-AFRICA THAT SALES THEM) I've been shaving my head for the last 2 +… Continue

Time for an update

Well, let's see.

Since last time, Nathan's hair has all gone. I'm liking this, even if that sounds weird, to the point that I couldn't find him in his school photo from last year, because I was looking for someone with no hair, and it just doesn't seem like HIM with hair anymore.

The latest is that half of his right eyebrow is getting pretty sparce, and most of the bottom lashes on his left eye are now gone too. a few on the lower right, but heh.

I'm kind of… Continue

Dotty's Inspirational/Motivational Reflection

"Beauty is a primeval phenomenon, which itself never makes its appearance, but the reflection of which is visible in a thousand different utterances of the creative mind, and is as various as nature herself."

A good way to have fun with a bald head

Hi again

Sorry again if there are any misspellings or grammer mess ups. Anyway I am going to talk about a few ways of having fun with your bald head. One way I had fun with my bald head in school and outside of school was when holidays came around I would yet the other kids paint hearts, clovers, eggs, christmas trees, menorahes, and many other things. lol It was great and the other kids and everyone else thought it was awesome!! I would also let the younger kids put stickers on my head.… Continue

I am a mom of a 5 yr old with alopecia, it has been a@ 10 mos since she lost everything and I still am going through "greiving " process. Although I don't let my dtr see it, and I believe we are doing a good job with her and building/keeping her self esteem up, I as a mom am having my own issues about it. As you know, alopecia effects the whole family. Remember, you and her are not the same person and she has not gone through this yet. Perhaps talk to your mom about how she felt when it… Continue

Alopecia/Love/Sexuality

I think one of the things that scares me the most about my hair loss is the fact that I may not be able to find someone who will love and except me for who i am. I have lived as an out bisexual for a couple of years now, and i always wondered if women would be more accepting to this condition than men. In all honesty though, i think that both sex's can be a bit shallow when it comes to stuff like this. Sighs...i'm just not sure these days. But i do hope that the woman..or man that decides to be… Continue

Dotty's Inspirational/Motivational Reflection
