Thank You, Locks of Love!!

A big snuggly thank you goes to our friends at Locks of Love for making Jordyn's xmas a little more special this year..I got the call today from Rhonda at LOL and Jordyn's real hair suction cup wig is all finished..I told her tonight and she was sooooo excited..now to tell her it will be here before xmas...should I..She has been waiting for this since we sent off the mold...Im so happy that this makes my little girl so happy to have flowing locks..now to see if she wears it..lol!!

It's genetic afterall!

Christmas this year........

You know, I've already gotten some of the best Christmas presents in my life this year.First, the neck down scan on dad came back cancer free. Second, he recently gave me my granddad Frank Pratt, Sr's socket set, toolbox,and hand crank drill.The latter I could only muster a quiet "Wow, thanks dad.", as I was shocked, but grateful he passed onto me something he and granddad cherished so much.

Wigs, redux

My wigs are trimmed and styled (and in one case resized; much easier than I had anticipated and much assisted by the support and advice of Meg and Thea - thank you so much!) and ready to go!

Hairless

Well, here's another blog, this one is going to be a little bit shorter I guess.



A month or so ago I got my wig, which already mentioned in other blogs, and I still got my real hair beneath it.

A week after I got my wig I got a feeling that I would feel even better if I would shave my hair.

So I told my dad, and he got a trimmer the next day. That evening we just trimmed it.

Head Tatoo

I was just wondering if it hurts any worse than anywhere else on your body to get a tatoo on your head? Anyone had one. I have a very small butterfly on my thigh with was a little painful, but want to pursue one on my head.

Thanks for the warm welcome. This site is great even though I haven't posted until now, I've been checking the site out and it has been a valuable support and learning tool.

Irked by the medical community

I'm taking a trial migraine drug; or was, until I found a bald spot on my head. My neurologist removed me from the trial drug -- which was working amazingly well -- but swore she didn't think there was any correlation between the drug and the alopecia.



I did some research and found out that alopecia is a side-effect in a few migraine drugs. As high as 7%! I also found that since alopecia is so "prevalent" a condition (around 0.1% of the world) that it isn't really ever considered a… Continue

I have the very best friend that anyone could ask for. My best friend ,Jennifer, has been there for me during my whole hair loss she was even one of the friends that offered to shave my head when I was ready. 2009 - A Year In Reflection...

Hello all my AW friends! As the year starts winding down to a close, I always get a little reflective of the year's passings. For me, I think 2009 can be summed up in the phrase "It's been a BUGGER of a year". There's no doubt in my mind that I'll be happy to see the end of '09!

First Post - Hooray!

If you have a huge head like I do, it is SO hard to find hats. And especially if you're looking for regular hats in Winter. Everything we saw was either too small, or too wintery.

It seems that since I've been diagnosed with AA, everyone in my family is treaating me differently. Sometimes I just want to be treated like someone that isn't losing their hair. Look ma, hair!

I have wigs! My amazing friend and I went wig shopping yesterday and, since they were so cheap for stuff that felt not half bad (they're both made from Kanekalon and are oh, so so shiny), I got two. One sleek asymmetric crop/bob and one shoulder length layered style with a fringe.
