I have never really known anyone else with alopecia and i guess its really hard.
Whats even harder though is dates, most people said they would go on a date with me if one thing, i had hair.
Im not comfortable with wearing wigs and i want people to like me for me and not just my hair. How can i get people to accept me for ME?
And no...even though i have had this for 13 years i still wish i had hair...guess i cant accept it

Going on holiday is great but it is always over far too soon!!!!!!!
It only seems like yesterday that I was packing my bags and getting ready for a week in the sun. In a blink of an eye I am back at me desk in the office looking at the everyday problems of business today. It’s a good thing that I enjoy my work!!!!!
Having been away, I must say that I really enjoyed my time without the hustle of routine and I had some valuable time with my family sitting in the sun, eating,…

Hi my name is Tasha im 24 year old mother of two. my eldest daughter Sierra5 have alopecia areata. I am looking to create a newletter to be sent some with all the children in her school. instead of putting a picture of an actual person with alopecia or a picture of her, I thought it would be nice to have an animated drawing of some children playing happily. I think it will catch more eyes and interest to create better awareness. Unfortanatly i stuggle with stick figures. Drawing doesnt come…

Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed.
Poor mountaineer owned the hair upon his head.
But then one day he was shootin' at some food,
and out fell his hair right down to the root.
Bald, that is. Chrome domed. Cueball style.
Well the first thing you know ole Jed is combing air.
Kinfolk said, "Jed you been hitting Nair?"
Said, "Dermatology is the place you outa be."
So they loaded up the truck and they moved to…

So I have been on a search lately for good false bottom lashes since it is so hard to find ones that look natural. I have some lower lashes but they are never quite all there and have no pigment. I gave mylash.com a try because I'd read about it in discussions on the site and ordered the "sultry lower lash." I received this first order two days later which was impressive because it was shipped across the country. I really liked the lashes too, they were comfortable and natural (not too long),…

Hi all,
I've never posted a blog on here before, but I've become increasingly desperate for contact with fellow alopecians (I so hate that word), so I'm going to try to get on here more often. (PS. You all are beautiful -- every last one of you! Just scanning the pictures gives me so much more confidence in myself.)
So my question is this: what do those of you with some, but not all, of your hair do when you go to the pool? We're taking our kids to the pool next week and I…

That's me been using the Dermovate cream for two weeks now.
The good news... on my 2 biggest patches I can see some white fuzzy hair coming through. My wife tells me that the patch on the top of my head has even longer white fuzz (but I can't see it very well). No dark hair yet but I'm keeping everything crossed.
The bad news... I can see the start of 3 possible new patches, 2 of which are really close to the patch on the top of my head. That makes 7 patches on my head now…

Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, and Fuzzy Wuzzy liked his hair.
But then one day he tripped and fell, into a pool of woman's Nair.
Now Fuzzy Wuzzy -- once so fair, was Fuzzy Wuzzy who had no hair.
So Fuzzy Wuzzy went on a tear, or sat around in his underwear.
Either way he didn't dare, go out in public without his hair.
So Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear and Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.
And try as might he could not care, about anything other than his hair.
So everyday…

After having been bald for more than 6 years you would think that I would finally have accepted my hair loss but apparently I haven't (even though I thought I had). As some of you guys know I recently graduated high school and in a few weeks I will be starting college. All of these milestones have released a whole rush of bad feelings and thoughts towards my alopecia that I had thought were almost completely gone, which has really freaked me out. I guess it started on the day of my college…

A few weeks ago I went to a neighborhood Bunco. I was excited. It would be nice to hang out with everyone all in one place since we were all scattered during the summer. I tried to fix my hair as best as I could. I've come to peace with wearing barrettes, even though at the age of 37, I wish I didn't have to. I'm not trying to be younger than my age....but lately I've been having less confidence in looking the way I do and how my peers view it. Only a few know. OK, none really. If I go without…

I really like working in the hotel industry, because there's never a dull moment on my job -- and sometimes I get inspired and encouragement from the most unlikely sources.
For example, my hotel houses layover crews from Delta Airlines. A lot of the pilots and flight attendants come in on the same flights pretty regularly, so the opportunity is there to get to know them. And as always, the opportunity is always there to educate them about alopecia.
The past three mornings,…
