I want to get to know you, a nice man or woman!

I am looking to get to know either a nice man or a woman. Friendship is great and if it gets to be more than friendship that's fine, but, one step at a time. I am a very open and accepting individual, I don't judge. I am the kind of person that if it doesn't work or as a relationship I would love to remain friends.

I am honest and I hope you will be honest with me. I am here to listen and hope you'll listen to me.

Here we go, I can't run from this problem

I'm new to this, they haven't even diagnosed me yet but one thing is for sure, I had, up until 4 weeks ago beautiful, thick and curly hair. I've lost more then half all over and now I'm noticing thinning spots around my temples and the rest of my hair line. And what's scary is I'm watching it get thinner and thinner. It's fast man. My hair is everything to me, to me it makes me. After a slew of blood tests, and tons of questions my dermatologist is very curious about me and my symptoms. I've…

I'm NOT having chemotherapy!

So I just started a new job about 6 months ago at a popular chain book store and in the first few months of working there I just went as what I think of as "myself" just a shaved head. (androgenous alopecia) In those few months I got numerous women coming up to me and asking if I was going through chemotherapy.  Some simply just smiled sympathetically at me and said they would pray for me.

One woman who happens to be a regular customer automatically thought I had cancer and skipped…

"Gotham’s” Anthony Carrigan talks acting, alopecia, and learning to love his look

I recently came across this interview on Buzzfeed.com and thought I would share it with AlopeciaWorld.com:

The alopecian actor stopped by BuzzFeed to share his thoughts on body positivity.

You’d recognize Anthony Carrigan if you saw him on TV, right? Not necessarily. The up-and-coming actor has been popping up…

Cannabis oil for alopecia?

There has a been a lot of hype about cannabis oil for the treatment of cancer in the media of late. In fact, I've seen many shows on it on CNN by Dr Sanjeep Gupter where it has literally saved children s lives.

A friend has recommended it to me for Alopecia but i cant find much research about its success rate with auto immune conditions.

Have you heard anything or had any success? Thoughts? I mean,if they are using it to treat cancer successfully, surely it could work for…

My alopecia has prepared me for this

As my 50th birthday approached, I occasionally thought about the fact that much was about to change for me. I struggled with the thoughts of impending possibilities such as weight gain, wrinkles, aches and pains, and the gradual waning of my physical abilities. But I also thought about my journey with alopecia over the past 24 years.

With alopecia the questions were…

Whirlwind week of highs and lows, wins and losses

So, where could I possibly start?

Having never been to a naturopath before, I took the advice of a friend and sought out a very well known one in my area. In the month I waited for my appointment, anyone I mentioned it to seemed to have heard of him and his silky skills. I got more and more excited as the appointment approached, which coincided with repeated trips back to my hopeless GP as we went through the process of blood tests and him delivering results in a monotone, emotionless…

New to Alopecia World

Good afternoon, Everyone!

My name is Rebecca, 23, and I am new to Alopecia World. I thought making a blog post would be a great way to get started and to meet other people who are living life with alopecia. All of my life, I have always had long and beautiful hair. Before leaving the house, the one thing that had to be perfect was my hair.

I first noticed my hair loss starting around mid August of 2014 and was officially diagnosed with AA in October of 2014. My hair loss…

Finally!

I have been on Xeljanz for 2 1/2 months 5 mg 2X daily and just last week I got about 7 white, baby fine "vellus" hairs right on top of my head and many, many of the same hairs on my face !! Like forehead, cheeks, etc. I never had hair on my face before just above my upper lip that I would pluck. Thankfully, it is light. There are no other hairs anywhere else right now but I am hoping for more. I just wonder if "vellus" hair always means you will get "terminal" hair with pigmentation? ..

Girl bullied after cutting hair short to donate to charity

Fox News reported:

An Ohio mother is speaking out after she says her 10-year-old daughter was bullied at school because she cut her hair short to donate it to charity.

FOX45 reported Tuesday that Jetta Fosburg decided on her own to cut 14 inches off of her long blonde hair and donate it to Wigs for Kids, a charity that helps children with cancer and other hair loss issues.

“I have some family members who have cancer so I thought it was the right thing to…

Your presence may mean far more than you think

Recently, a mother whose beautiful young daughter has alopecia said to me, "I always tell my daughter that you are her twin. I tell her when she grows up, she's going to look like you."

The emotions that statement elicited in me were very strong: I was honored and extremely humbled.

Our reach as alopecians is far beyond us. We may be just living our lives and, at the same time, encouraging a neighbor, a person on our morning commute, or perhaps someone we least…

I believe (alopecia can...)

I believe that Alopecia can kill us on the inside and leave us a physical shell with a defeated spirit. It almost did that to me. We MUST nurture and pamper our emotional selves (well, too much pampering is bad of course, but go easy on yourself for at least three years) during the transition from possessing hair (and, no, I don't mean owning a wig lol) to not anymore - of course, that is, if we don't come up with a no-side-effects cure - which would be totally kick ass. Then, being bald…

An Alopecia Poem by Laura

I, myself, have just no time to spare,
To fret, mope, or worry over hair.
But WHY are some compelled to stare? -
It's JUST a scalp! So what, it's bare?

Another spontaneous Laura poem

The year was 1995
I had long hair;
I felt alive.
The hair was lost-
I ceased to thrive.
To accept the loss
First failed but strived.
And in the end
Well, I survived!

Day 104 of Chinese Herbal Medicine to treat alopecia due to raw food diet and stress

Just a quick update.

Chinese medicine seems to be still helpful with my hair loss. There is now a steady low amount of hair loss in general. I don't have to vacuum the floor as often and hair loss in the showers, although still collects a ball in the drain, it is nowhere near as much as a month ago.

The general condition of my hair used to dry, brittle, kinked, thick with fine split ends, reddish brown black tinge and generally flyaway. Now, my hair feels shinier, softer and…
