Be blessed on your birthday. What you are is God's gift to you. What you do with yourself is your gift to God. I think that he is pleased with you. Thanks for all you do for those of us to STRUGGLE with hair loss.

Well I had the day off today; kids are in school, hubby at work, so I decide to do some heavy cleaning. I came across some pictures of Alex before he started losing his hair and I realized that I didn't remember what he looked like with hair. It was only 8 months ago when he started losing it---- why cant I remember him with hair? For the last eight months, I have shown only signs of disappointment with the condition of Alopecia, but now I am angry...... Why??? Why Alex??? Not that I wish it…

Although AlopeciaWorld.com was launched on March 7, 2008, today is also a very special day in the life of our beloved community.
Today, January 13, is the birthday of Cheryl Carvery-Jones, whose life inspired the founding of AlopeciaWorld.com not only because she has alopecia, but more so because she has a heart for…

Im pretty excited about going to an Alopecia Specialist soon. Dr. Lynn Goldburg in Boston, MA. She has such a high success rate. I just hope it all works out. I have 2 new wigs from Christmas and they are wonderful, I've found that I actually like the cheaper material wigs better than the expensive ones. They seem to look more natural and come in fun colors and styles. My confidence was broken in early December when me and my Fiance broke up, we both said a lot of hurtful things but end it…

Yesterday, on my way to my monthly appointment to clean and reattach my integration system I had two humorous moments of clarity.
1.
I'm sitting in my car, and I pull off my headband-earmuff thing to go inside. My hair stands straight up. "Man, i knew this thing would give me hat hair," I say to myself. Then I burst out laughing. When my biggest problem is "hat hair," as apposed to "no hair," life is pretty good.
2.
Im in the appointment and I'm waiting for…

So I have NO idea what happened, but my patchy barely there hair that I shaved off, has grown in so think and I have only 1 bald spot! Every morning I wake up with bed head and have to wet it to make it stay down, and it feels AMAZING that I have to do that. I am still missing the tail-end of my left eyebrow, but I don't even care about it! I have HAIR, I have A LOT of hair!! I haven't gone to the dermatologist, I haven't done anything. I know there is still that chance that it will fall out…

Since my hair loss has been getting worse, I have begun looking at wigs. What experience have people had with wigs? What about synthetic vs human hair?

It's been a great few months since I started shaving my head; hiding the disorder was more trouble that it was worth. It seems as though every few times I shave my head I alter my technique ever so slightly (I'm looking for the "perfect" shave). Recently, however,
I have been finding more and more difficulty in shaving my head. Actually, scratch that. What I mean to say is recently my head has been disagreeing more and more with the…

I just want to tell all you teens out there not to give up. Embrace your beauty; it is in the eye of the beholder anyway. My youngest adopted daughter lost all her hair - totalils, almost a year ago. She had to give up competing in gymnastics, but got involved in colorguard at high school. She will be in the Rose Parade tomorrow. I am so proud that she has not let this stop her. If you watch, she is in the Upland High School colorguard, they are 96 out of 97 tomorrow, or for some of you,…
