I am starting Methotrexate for my Autoimmune Conditions, it's part of a group of Chemotherapy Drugs normally used in Cancer but is also used in treating Autoimmune Conditions (eg. Rheumatoid Arthritis).
I was wondering if any of you are on Methotrexate? If so, did it effect your hair loss in any way?

In an hour it will be time to take my three year old to a new session of her kiddie music class, and even as I pretend it isn't a big deal, I am stressed about what to put on my head. We last went to these classes 4 or 5 months ago, and then I wore my wig. Indeed the music class, a gathering of mostly mommies and their toddlers, was my personal testing grounds for a wig as part of my identity. It was not, however, an ideal environment for wig wearing. Dancing around with a two year old's…

I hope my friends are all doing well these days.
Finally logged back in after seeing an update e mail from AW. I keep reading some interesting stories out there regarding "exciting new treatments".
I ask my Derm about them and she usually has no response.
I am still going every 6 weeks for the cortisone injections. We tried longer cycles and shorter cycles. Although the shots work, my body seems to have it's own macro cycle where the eyebrows will stay in and during…

I've recently discovered a quote while browsing the "alopecia" hashtag on tumblr it read "i am not this hair, i am not this skin, i am the soul that lives within. ever since then i found that this quote is helping me get through rough moments that i like to blame on alopecia. its just friendly reminder that my condition does not define me because physical appearance does not define me although many times it feels as though it does. as a cosmetologist living in new york the fashion capitol of…

My hair is sprouting all over my head so fluffy. Thankfully I am less obsessed with it growing. I no longer look daily in the mirror. But I enjoy running my hand over the fluff.
My new obsession is the state of my nails they peal all the time. But I've invested in a nail strengthener. I hope it works. It's almost unfair that we loose hair and nails.
But love keeping the colour in fashion.

I discovered my hair loss in August and have AA on the left side of my scalp. I am seeing a dermatologist and am getting shots every 6 weeks so who knows what the future holds.
As I have dark brown hair that has not been cut…

If true connection is FREE...if happiness has no price...who can you really say never fails to make you smile without the possible COSTS? Maybe the one who makes you smile with a MUTUAL feeling is more worth the wait than the numbers of dates with no true connection. Hair or no hair, it can be too frustrating and take up too much mental stress if you are trying to convince someone who does not feel the same about you to stick around for a romance, be it at age 16 or 66. Let it grow…

And then there was none… hair that is. One year later…
Sometimes I don’t’ know how to react, or what to say, when others try to console me because they think I’m dealing with cancer. They cheer for me in my races, and they tell me I’m beautiful, and they tell me I remind them of their battle. I usually just smile and say thank you. Only when someone directly asks me about my cancer do I correct them and tell them that I have Alopecia. Most of them don’t know what that is, and most of…

I always try to imagine the person I'd be if my hair hadn't fallen out. I know that this changed me. For good or for bad? I don't know.. I have no idea how I would have been if I never lost it.. and still I don't have much of an idea of who I am living with it for 7 years. I wish I knew.

As time goes on and on, fall starts once again,
for some people fun times just keep going on
for others less fortunate, it’s cold coming on
for the rest of the world, living it’s not a game!
Leaves will fall again, leaving trees naked to the eyes
grass will change its color from green to gray
just to mix together with trees to blend as one big grave
it will force us come to rest and close our…

It's been just over 5 years since I accepted my alopecia and stopped hiding beneath a wig. In that time I've met and married my gorgeous husband, had our 3rd child, completed post grad qualification in HR, been promoted and had so many memorable experiences.
I can honestly say that none of this would have been possible if I'd been wearing that wig still because for that whole time, I wasn't myself. Everything I did was hindered by baldness and a fear of being teased! I look back at my…

I have had small blonde hairs growing at the front of my head for about a month now. They are becoming longer as the days/weeks past. But they aren't all over my head. I am completely bald from head to toe. My eyelashes and eyebrows have the same happening.
Is this a good sign that the hair is going to be growing back ? Or does it mean something else.
I dont want to get my hopes up.

Also I bought a new wig in Russia. Made in Germany from indian hair. About $800. terrible in compare with europian hair wigs. will never recommend. It is better to spend double more money but buy european hair wigs.

While visiting Russia this summer I went to a doctor of medicine in Moscow.
She prescribed me to take hormone Diprospan and some pills to reduce side effects.
Now after 1 month I have full head (and not only head) of new hair growing!
It's really exiting. I hope my new hair will stick for long time...

Hi!
Just wondering if there are any Canadians out there I can connect with. I live in a remote part of Canada and just looking for people close to home.
I hope everyone is having a happy, positive day! Sending you all love

Going to visit the HIS Hair Clinic in New York this next Wednesday the 17th for my first scalp micropigmentation.

I had scheduled my appointment for the Seattle office, since I live in Portland, Oregon, but then got a phone call from the company asking if I'd be willing to come to New York and let them…

Hi everyone.
I was just recently diagnosed with Alopecia and it has been absolutely devastating to me. I feel like I have no control over what's happening so we just have to pick up the pieces and keeping moving forward.
I just wonder, what are the best wigs to order. I have ordered lace front and monofilament caps but I find the lace so itchy and uncomfortable. I usually order heat friendly synthetic hair. Does anyone have any websites they could share with me? I just want to…
