If it weren't for the fact that I agreed to let my hair grow back in because Todd asked me to, I would be sitting here enjoying a bald head, free of irritation, inflammation, and all around discomfort because I can't stand how having hair on my head feels -- it's hot, itchy, and I'm too lazy to spend the time styling it when it does finally grow out enough to do anything with it.
I'm going to wait til after the holidays, then Todd and i will have the discussion again about taking it…

Not sure if I've got this blog thing figured ,but here it goes...
I was curious about AU and AT I've lost almost all my hair and my brows were falling out. The story behind that, is advice from an allergy specialist. I have intestinal problems so on my last visit to my gastro Doc he says "Have you changed your hair." I smiled and told him whats been happening. He immediately refered me to an allergy specialist.
On my visit with this Doctor, she explained that 40% of alopecia…

Winter is here. As the temperature has dropped I have appreciated more then ever that I have had virtually full re-growth. My hair is now cut to a number 3 and has grown back all over my head apart from a small patch on the left side. I say that but did it not grow back completely and then it has it fallen out again? I’m not sure. There is also a slight shortage of hair over my ears on both sides but compared to how it was before I shaved my head last year it is brilliant and so warm compared…

Since it's Thanksgiving I decided that giving thanks was in order. I have so much to be thankful for!
- my wonderful family that has been by my side and helped me so much. Specifically my mom who has listened to me cry and shaved my head when I asked her to.
- the opportunity I have to go to college. I am so happy that I live in a country that allows me to pursue my education and allows me to do and become anything that I want.
- this wonderful country - I can't even imagine…

Hello Friends,
As you might know I am writing a few Christmas Carrols with an Alopecia Twist. Refer to a post a week back. Carrols across Alopecia World. My first entry was based on the Twelve Days of Christmas here's my second song of the season.
Don't cry for me Alopecia
The truth is I never loved you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Dont keep your distance

Everyone,
I went to HCK (hair club for kids) to take off my glued on wig. my mom, gramma, and sisters were there waitin to see what my head looked like. I have never been completely bald and ya know what, i dont think ill EVER be! There is like regrowth in everyyyy spot on my head. some of it i just cant believe how long it is and then yet, some is just "peach fuzz". when i went to the hair club to get the wig taken off the time before that, the spot that i started with had neverrrr got…

In July, we posted an official blog titled "What is Alopecia World to You?"
However, in this blog, we want to ask, "What can Alopecia World do for you?"
In other words, what additional site features would you like see?
What improvements would you like for us to make to the site?
How can we better serve you as a community?
What's on your Alopecia World wish list?
Please…

I just recently moved from Georgia to Music City (Nashville, TN). My family - Mom, Dad, Amanda (little sis), Benjamin (little bro) and Beau (little dog) are coming to visit me here for Thanksgiving. Momma is bringing her buzzers to shave off the little bit of hair I have left. I'm excited to be taking control. This way if my hair continues to fall out it will come out as little bitty pieces instead of long strands. However, I'm a little bit scared. I'm scared to be taking the plunge into "bald…

I just received my first pair of human hair Natural Brows. They arrived unexpectedly soon; I think I paid for the least expensive postage! Soon after I arrived home and saw a biggish parcel on my bed with other mail, I got as excited as a child looking at his present under the christmas tree on christmas day. Hastily ripped open the sealed plastic envelope, tore the carton box, unwrapped the wrapping paper, opened the packaging and looked at the realistically-finished eyebrows. Carefully…

Hi...this isn't nearly as earth shattering or dramatic a post as some of my others, but I'm excited about my most recent alopecia realization. Sleep caps! Yes, I'm probably the last alopecian to know they exist. But I was laying in my bed a couple nights ago, a little cold - it does get a bit nippy in Phoenix in the winter believe it or not. Oh, well, I also didn't want to turn on my heat yet either as I'm saving money leaving it off right!!! I was thinking as I was laying there that it would…

Interesting times these days....life's pretty great by almost any standard you can measure it, but this Alopecia thing has a way of getting in my craw every once in a while. Chalk it up to the pressure of life (yes, I'm a believer that the stress around me and in me is a major instigator for my Alopecia), and we're all feeling it somehow, but my left eyebrow all of a sudden - after a good 4 years of stability - decided to call it quits. The bigger problem in this predicament is that he didn't…

Hello everybody ! My name is Kristine and I have had alopecia since my early twentys. I am now 35 years of age. I started shaving my head about 2 and a half years ago. Boy, was that liberating ! Out of sight, out of mind for the most part... Now I'm really into hats and scarfs. I love wearing them. My husband shaves my head for me. It is sort of messy with all of these tiny hairs I end up finding on the bathroom floor or on my toothbrush days after a good buzzing.
Then I met this really…

As an artist I've always enjoyed exploring ideas and asking questions through various mediums. From film, photography, stage plays to painting I love using these as doors to present questions to the world. Lord willin', sometime in 2009 I'll be able to put the art piece on exhibit.
I'd like to get some ideas from my fellow alopecians about some projects that you'd like to see featuring bald women. Honesty is appreciated.

I've been keeping my real hair really short lately... my wig doesn't seem to move on my head so much if my hair is short.
And I noticed the places where I do have hair don't seem to be growing as quickly, and the bald spots that showed up last spring seem to be taking a much longer time to grow back. One is almost completely grown in, and I can feel peach fuzz on the other, but it's taking a long time.
But yesterday, I noticed another bald spot on top, a little to the…
