so the carnival went great used double-stick tape or watevever its called! but it went great didnt fall off and everyone thought i shaved my head for spencer(a local teen with cancer!so sad!!!) but anyway that was good but i just shaked my head and went to hang out with my friends though later i told them i had alopecia but still i had a great time! thanks to everyone who helped me with this situation.

Biopsy

Hi Everyone, I saw my new Dermatologist yesterday, I really liked her. She ordered a boat load of blood test, thyroid, ANA (autoimmune) CBC, the works, depending on the blood test results she may do a scalp biopsy.

Has anyone had one? If so what can I expect?

She also wrote out a RX for Betamethasone Valerate (the spell alert came on for that one, lol) lotion, twice a day.

If you have used this, how did it do for you?

My second sighting of someone like me

I've been busy with getting my house in order for a party I'm throwing on the 18th of this month..



Last night, I was in a super Wal-mart taking back an unbella stand and as I was looking around.. I passed by this young boy who just happened to be bald and no eyelashes, eyebrows and he was just watching the tv screen that was showing the current cartoon dvd release..

kinda confused

I went to the dermalologist yesterday to get more cortisone shots and he told me that my scalp was too thin and he could not do any more shots until my head heals. He said it would take it about 2 years to heal. He took a complete blood count and everything was good. Does anyone use clobetosol propionate gel, 0.05%? Will that also make my scalp thin and I dont know if I should continue to use it if my scalp is already too thin! I need help!

I finally did it!

On July 7th I shaved my head. I waited until my husband and son left the house to go fishing and I did it. I dont know what made me finally decide to do it. I thought it was going to be very emotional for me but it wasnt. I didnt shed one tear. I didnt even feel sad. I actually felt relief and freedom. I was glad what was left was gone. Hair vs Health

I found a lump in my breast on Friday night June 19th. I called my doctor the following Monday. They got me in that afternoon. I was then referred to a regional breast cancer center 30 minutes from where I live. I had to wait a week for my appointment. I had a mammogram and ultrasound done. One year and it's all gone

I do understand..cause when I'm not thinking and walk by a mirror...I still after 30 years get a gasp..a shock and revolt feeling like a freak too!

Lost

Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months. I just can't understand why I am still here. I haven't seen my husband for 6 long months and I am almost at my breaking point now. Help!

I'm almost 42 years old and noticed a very small patch of alopecia on my beard in September 2008. I never really thought anything of it at the time other than it was a bit odd. I don't have a heavy growth and never thought about growing a beard anyway. The patch slowly expanded and is still growing to this day. Seeing the dermatologist!

Hey all i finally saw the dermatologist, who managed to identify the problem straight away.

I have been diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia. The dermatologist said my body isnt producing enough red blood cells and now is depriving my body of oxygen and it cant cope so has stopped growing my hair. They are doing further test to make sure my body hasnt shut down anything inside lol!!!

I am losing my hair again...

I went through those awful cortisone shots a few months ago. I had two rounds of injections done and also used a topical cream for about 2 weeks. The hair started growing back and just a few weeks ago I noticed that not only is the hair falling out again but the spot got bigger! I am so scared that it is going to be worse this time around. Do I get the injections again? Should I just leave it alone?

Another "What If?" came to mind. What if we were to put alopecians on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, where true personality would rule instead of hair? Where the public and private dates had to focus on true acceptance and support, and where the home dates put alopecia forth to family members and best friends? What if we got this so we COULD experiment with looks, love, acceptance and changes in ways others cannot? FOURTH OF JULY!
