Hi, My name's JOSH.
I just want to start by saying this website truly is wonderful. I don't know why I never joined Alopeciaworld.com before. It's like Facebook or Myspace for bald people! (only I think this is a little cooler) I've been a member for less than 24 hours and many of you (whom I have never met) have welcomed me, and I can't tell you how much that means. The close-knit community that alopeciaworld seems to promote is very cool and once again I'd like to state how much…

As of Wednesday last week I have ditched the wig and am wearing my bald head with pride. So far the response has been great. All was revealled at work fo the first time on Monday and everyone couldn't believe it but then said how much better and more confident I look!
Walking in to my local shop, meeting my friends at the pub, playing hockey, anythng - I'm not bothered about people seeing the real me - Best decision I ever made!

I recently started working again as a Night Auditor for a swanky boutique hotel in downtown Nashville, and based on past experience when I went to my interview I brought my "alopecia essentials" kit: a letter from my dermatologist explaining my need to wear wigs, hats, and scarves; a printed copy of the Americans with Disabilities Act; and a business card with my lawyer's name and phone number, and my godmother's name and phone number (she works for the EEOC.) My boss was very pleasant during…

I had AA for 7 years, then I progressed to AT - no scalp hair, but everything else still there. Then, it quickly went to AU. In the past few months, I've started growing hair again, but ONLY on my face. I have eyebrow patches, lashes in the center of my upper eyelids, nose hair, and peach fuzz in places on my cheeks and chin. But, there's not a single, tiny hair anywhere else on my scalp or body.
So, I think that there needs to be a name for when you have hair only from your eyebrows…

Hello all,
I hope that this information will be helpful. I had aa once 14 years ago. I had a couple of small patches on the back of my head, I got the cortisone shots and it went away within a year. 2 months ago I noticed a patch on the side of my head. I went to get the shots but they weren't stopping the hair from falling out. Everyone kept telling me to relax and that stress probably caused this. But I didn't feel stressed out and that just didn't ring true to me. My hair falling out is…

Hello,
Visited with a new Derm yesterday here in CA. I didn’t technically go to see him for my Alopecia – I went to discuss my extremely dry, itchy, cracked palm on my right hand. He told me that I had Keratosis Palmaris, gave me a steroid shot and prescribed me some ointment. He advised me that although they weren’t connected in anyway, the meds may also help the Alopecia.
Naturally, I’ve been reading all I can online and have found a link between this and Alopecia called…

I think I am at my lowest point. I have almost no hair left and I just cry all the time. I don't leave the house except for doctor appointments. I have stopped talking to all of my friends and have even begun to stop talking to family members unless they call me.
I just can't deal with this anymore. I can't even imagine living the rest of my life with this pain. I can't look at myself in the mirror and just feel like i am not "normal." I don't even feel like a real person if that makes…

Just getting tired of having my clean slate in the morning. I imagine myself somedays drawing in my "Angry eyebrows", while other days the "suprised eyebrows", or "sad eyebrows" "happy eyebrows"...add the hair, the eyelashes (which I still have yet to conquer successfully) and there I am...Mrs. Potato Head. It does sometimes give me the giggles when I think of it that way.
Looking for eyebrow tattoo advice, if anyone could give it.
1) What do I look for in a tattoo artist.…

How's that for an Alopecian Fairy Tale title? But seriously almost every day I wake up realizing I've had another dream that my hair returned. It's always the same: I still have some alopecia but my hair is long and covers all of it. When I wake I am a bit surprised and disapointed that it was just a dream. Do any of you have similar sleepy time story lines?. Could the dreams be premonitions, or perhaps my subconscious sending signals to get my hair growing again, or is it just the old stand-by…

I'm contemplating doing what I said I'd never do, shave my head. I'm tired of cleaning hair from all over my house on a daily basis, I almost want to cry when I take a shower, and I cant even look at myself in the mirror anymore. I am very depressed I dont want to leave my house unless i absolutely have to. I have very little hair on the top and two growing patches on the sides of my head.

I joined this site about 6 months ago, and I was not sure what the group was about. I became AA when I was 15. That was 17 years ago.
I can see now that the members here are kind of broken into 2 groups; Those whom are seeking a remedy for there gift, and those who embrace it. I am of the ladder. Oh.. and there is a very small bunch attending simply to try to make money off of all of us, offering a quick simple solution.. for a price.
Alopecea is a greek word, it means "Baldness" and…

I got my second opinion from the private dermatologist on Wednesday.
Overall, I was more satisfied with her explanation of what was happening and felt that she did a much more thorough investigation of my scalp.
The dermatologist said that the alopecia could be hereditary, but she also asked if I had ever suffered from eczema to which I replied that I had patches on my legs and hands when I was younger. It's the first time that I'd heard about a possible link with…

Hi guys, so I have been struggling with shedding for the past 19 months on and off with hair shedding. My hair is noticeabley thinner and it feels like I am washing so little hair in the shower lately. My eyelashes have started to thin considerbaly and I ALWAYS have lashes all over my face. I still have thme though, so that keeps me hopeful. My question though is that I have been scratching the hell out of my eyes lately and wonder if that means I will be loosing them soon. My head is very…

A friend told me about this.
VW apparently thinks people from the future will be bald.

I am pretty sure the bald heads are makeup jobs. Too bad. They could have come here and probably found a few aspiring alopecian actors and actresses.
Still, a cool commercial.

I just got home from a dermatologist appointment. I haven't seen her in about 6 months, due to the fact I learned I was pregnant and was not willing to get the cortisone shots during the pregnancy. My hair is falling out rapidly and I asked her if it was because I am pregnant and it really started falling out fast when I got pregnant. (My AA has been active 6 years, and it was only in the past 6 months that I couldn't cover it). She told me that my hair loss has NOTHING TO DO WITH HORMONES. I…
