Regrowth

I thought that it was about time that I posted another blog. I haven't blogged in a while, mainly due to feeling so low about my hairloss that I didn't want to post another negative one.

Everything is still far from rosy, but I thought that I'd try to post a positive blog focussing on the regrowth that I am having in my original spots.

It's quite hard to get decent pics but I took some today which turned out ok, not brilliant but ok.

The first one is the patch… Continue

Eyebrows and eyelashes?

I am brand new to this site. I have had alopecia for 30 years and still have not accepted it. Although I am much better now than I have ever been. I have never met anyone else with it and was wondering if anyone had some good ideas about how to make eyebrows apear natural and also eyelashes as well as any tips on wigs. Even though I have been wearing wigs the whole time I thought other people might know alot more than me. I would love any comments or support from anyone. I want so badly to… Continue

4 1/2 months since i noticed regrowth

I know no treatments are guaranteed for regrowth, but I would like to share this with my fellow alopecian buddies of what I did. Hopefully everyone who wants regrowth can get regrowth.

1) minoxdil 5% once a day during night

2) multivitamin once a day

3) black sesame tea twice a day

sunday after church my friends 2 kids came running to give me a hug after service. one is 5 and the other is 4. the youngest one said "auntie you didnt wear your wig today?" i reminded her that auntie only wears her wig to work. so then she says " we didnt wear our wigs either, i have a pink one and my sister has a yellow one!" i laughed sooooo hard! so then the oldest one reached for me to pick her up for a hug, when i did she took her little warm hand and rubbed my head as she hugged me with… Continue

Getting hairy

So I'm looking at my head in the mirror and for the last few years I have ever so slowly been getting regrowth after years upon years (about 17) of having no hair at all whatsoever. I haven't done anything differently or taken any meds so this is completely occuring on its own. About 10 years ago I stopped wearing wigs most of the time and in the last year when I've seen the most growth is the time I've started becoming more involved in helping others with alopecia. Crazy… Continue

Brand New!

I just joined this website today and would like to share my experience with my son having AA so far....of course this is just the beginning. Also I would LOVE any advice anyone has to offer!

About 1 1/2 weeks ago my enerjetic, full of life, 3 yr old boy was thrashing around on the floor, just being crazy and having fun. As I was watching him I noticed a bald spot about the size of a quarter on the back of his head. Right in the spot where kids usually rub there hair out as infants.… Continue

Got a new wig today!

Yeah, read that title again -- you didn't miss anything. I just got a wig today. It's the first new wig I've bought in 4 years. It's a Rene of Paris Amore Monofilament wig. For those of you who like it, the style is Erika and the color is Iced Mocha (which is basically brunette with blonde streaks.) Here's a picture below:

Forgive me if my skin looks a little splotchy; I got sick last night and when that happens my skin tends to show… Continue

"Fight or Flight" - lose your hair?

Alright Peeps, so I got pulled over and received a ticket yesterday for talking on my cell phone (yes, I'm in CA). Totally had "fight or flight" responses when I realized I was being pulled over, you know - heart beating like crazy, shaky hands, can't think straight, etc.

WELL, flash forward to this morning - HELLO!, hair coming out like crazy in the shower and HELLO! it looks like my spots have almost doubled overnite! WTF!?!?

Locks of Love HBO film

We watched the locks of love HBO film that they have out now..It is on demand. It was such a wonderful film and it gave Jordyn the chance to see that there are other girls and women out there with the same disease as her. It also gave her a better appreciation for what goes into the making of the wig she is about to get.

Yaz and the issues

Hello everyone!

there have been recent studies showing that there are MANY side effects from the birth controls Yaz and Yasmin. I was on both of these pills. Yasmin - 6 years ago. and Yaz - a year ago. ...I had hair before I started the first round of pills 6 years ago. Now that i'm seeing all of the negative side effects from the pills on TV, i'm wondering if it could be a contributing factor for some women.

Anyone ever been on Yaz or Yasmin contraceptive and see anything… Continue

My A.A. Story/Journey(21/m)

Well anyways, I am new to the whole hair loss thing. I just got alopecia areata in March of this year. I never knew that you could suffer hair loss as a result of nature. I always just thought that major illness caused hair loss but I guess Mother Nature taught me something that I have never known before. It all started when I was getting my haircut (Get them usually every 1-2 months) in March. I remember all was good until my hair stylist told me something that would change my world and change… Continue

Would like to help

Hello everyone.

I'm 65 years old and have had Alopecia Totalis since I was a child. It's lovely to see how you support each other through your Alopecia. I had nobody with my condition to talk to as I grew up. My family has always been wonderful but they didn't really understand how I felt. My hair has regrown but I worry about my grandaughters getting it because my father told me that my great grandfather was completely bald at a very young age (I don't suppose they knew what it was then).… Continue

Attitude is Everything!

I thought I would share it with everyone because I really believe that how we choose to handle the cards we are dealt makes all the difference in the world. Here is the the full text of Charles Swindoll"s "Attitude."
