Update of Carmellaness

I've started working that night job. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. I have to switch back to days by Monday for Clinicals that's always fun.
School is going ok, although I feel like giving up on the regular.
I wish I cold make enough money to buy a new pair of jeans and go to the spa for a day, even a half day.
I turned 28 and my good friend has the same b-day (she turned 21) so we threw her a surprise party.
I'll put up some pictures.

Nearly four weeks into my Alopecia Journey

Well, it's still falling out, but has noticably slowed down. No sign of stopping just yet though and who knows if any areas are growing or not. Hubby took his first really good look through it the other day so hopefully next time he looks he'll notice something good or bad. Apparently I've got bald bits, shaved looking bits and some stubble areas. Who knows aye. On the whole still pretty coverable.

MRI today

Today Amelia went for her MRI, and we had to go to Charlotte to Carolina's Medical Center. Everyone there was helpful and friendly. I called the doctor, and he said that the everthing was normal in the pituitary gland. We have done blood work, and now this, but still no answers. The dermatologist hasn't been much help either, but she did prescribe some foam to put on the scalp. It was spots but now more hair has come out, and we are almost to the point of shaving. my new treatment method

I'm going to try a new treatment that I've been wanting to try for a while. NOTHING. Well, not exactly true. I will do pretty much nothing so far as treatments, but I will try to stop obsessing about my alopecia and thinking about it every minute. I don't think it's healthy. I see some hair fall out, I get super upset, and then more hair falls out, and it continues in a cycle. I noticed I wasn't losing a lot of hair when I wasn't stressed out.

My therapy

I made a promise to a professor when I was in college that I would find a way to give back within five years after I graduated.

My New Winter-Caps / Wigs...Asking for opinions... :)

Hey Everybody...

I am posting pictures of my new "Winter-Caps", that's what I call my wigs when I wear them because I don't just wear the same hair every day in the winter months here in AZ... I will go to work on Monday with a cap to match my outfit, and on Tuesday I might wear a scarf and on Wednesday I might wear a short wig and on Thursday I might wear a long wig depending on what I feel like that day.

Attention world...here comes my bald head...

So tonight I will make my first social appearance BALD! I have been furniture shopping wigless...but I don't know those people so who cares. I also went to the renaissance festival and bought a tiara with a drop gem (its really pretty) and wore that around on my little naked head. Super Slow Saturday

NZ Support groups?

Hey I'm just curious if there are any NZ support groups out there?

I've come a long way with accepting my alopecia, & I'd love to be able to share stories & support younger people or people who have just been diagnosed face to face, I believe that talking & having someone there to give u a hug is the best thing! I have been thinking since I went to my last doctor check up, About making an apointment with a dermatologist..... Im on the fence.... and i am somewhat afraid of the result being worthless. Being pregnant kinda stops all medicine and treatment for most everything. Wont it be the same for alopecia? And for some reason I keep thinking that maybe i will just grow it back.....

Alopecia in a Movie

So I fianlly got a chance to watch Darjeeling Limited. It came out last year with Owen Wilson, Adrian Brody and Jason Schwartzman. Well I had to watch twice to catch it but Owen Wilsons assistant has alopecia. They make a comment about it about half way through the movie. it was great it is only talked about it the once but it is funny.

Should I be aggravated?

I wrote a letter to my 5 yr old daughters teacher to see if it was possible to come in and talk to the class about her AA. My daughter has been asking us for a little while now. So the teacher said she will talk to the principal and get back to us. She got back to us today and said the principal denied the request and said we can send the information to the school nurse to review and she will talk to the class about it.
