hmmmm.....

I hate alopecia. I go from extremes, where i'm ok with it and act like it's not a big deal, to where i cry myself to sleep, hating everygthing about it. I wish i just had patches, that'd be so great. I hate losing my lashes adn brows, and i hate having to wear a wig, and i hate being bald.



I hate it so so much. I really do. It just makes me so sad and feel so revolting and i look like a freak, I feel like a freak. I hate it.

I finally did it...I shaved my head..

I finally cut my hair off and I feel great!! I still wear my lace wigs but I was just holding on to my hair when there was really no need to. PLease excuse the adhesive I was just about to apply my wig before taking the 1st photo!

lace wigs?

hi~

does anyone have any advice on full lace wigs and lace front wigs. i've been researching online forever and get so many mixed reviews. i really want to buy one asap but i want a nice one without too much cost. i don't want to pay over 200. this is the first wig purchase i'll have ever made. please give me some advice based on your experiences:)

Here we are a year later and just plain fed up

Well here I am a year later after I discovered the very first bald spot......I still have hair but holy cow not that much..... I have to say this is the most frustrating thing I have ever been through in my life.



I went into wigs in January because the delightful bald spots were becoming too big... I have I am not sure of the correct term but the Ophiasis pattern? The hairloss is all the bottom of my head and the side kind of like a turban effect. Well at least that is how it started… Continue

In desperate need of help and advice

Hello everyone.I'm 35 years old and since last summer have noticed that my hair is thinning on my right side.It started in the corner of my forehead and has got thinner down the side near my ear.I have no bald patches as such it is just noticably thinner than the other side.My doctor won't help me and says it's nothing.The hair that is growing on the thin side is coming through white and thinner.Can anybody tell me what this is?I'm worried sick.My doctor says it's not alopecia but i think it… Continue

Has anyone had any luck with Calosol?

My daughter who is 10 with alopecia has been using Calosol for about 4 weeks now. She has two spots on her head and lost most of her one eyebrow and losing hair on her other one. I see little white hairs on her eyebrow but i'm not sure if it is hair growth or not. Anyone else use it; please let me know what your results were!!

Today was a VERY bad day

As i explained in my other blog I have been dealing with this for 4 years and just recently came clean to my mom about my true feelings about my alopecia. When we had discussed it further she asked if I would talk to someone about this. Today I went and saw my doctor about talking to someone about my feelings and that was really hard for me. My Alopecia Life

My hair first started falling out at age 4. My parents brought me to several doctors for a few years until we found a doctor in New York City that started injecting my scalp with steroids. This went on from age 6 til about age 12. Sulfasalazine works! My daughter received the "cured" stamp! Please read this!

My daughter was diagnosed with AA when she was three and progressed to totalis about a year and a half ago. After many treatments that didn't work--everything from natural to rogaine to creams, DPCP, (the only thing we did not do was steroids or shots, she was too young) we found out about the drug sulfasalazine and it's positive effects on alopecia patients. so i had another dermatologist appt today

well this one was a little different, he gave me a shot in the hip on the left side, my next shot is on the 14th on the right side of my hip, which is pretty odd...otherwise it went ok and it was it quick.

HELP.. Wig advice, synthetic that is going REALLY frizzy.

I knew when I bought this wig that it was a cheap synthetic wig, that being said, I still thought that it would last more than a week. I have only been wearing it for a week, maybe two and only on the days that I have gone out to do things in the afternoon/evening with friends, maybe 5-6 times. The back part now feels stringy and looks like half of the hair is broken and really frizzy. Please keep me and my family in your prayers UPDATE 4/06/09

I may be offline for a few weeks -- my mother had a stroke yesterday and is critically ill but improving. Because she has to learn how to walk again she will be in the hospital for the next several weeks. Please keep me in mind in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.



Nothing like a little reality to shake me out of alopecian self-pity!

Happy Sunday All!

Ok, so we all know it's April, so what's with All of the stupid snow!?!?! We got like 3 inches or something like that, It's just dumb! I can't wait for spring to finally start acting like spring! But the snow feels pretty cool as it sprinkles on my head! Can't help it, I'm freaky that way! LOL!!

Thanks for the Big Welcome

Thanks to everyone who has sent me a message of welcome to Alopecia World. I know I'm going to feel 'at home' here.

Got wiggy with it...at least I tried some on.

So I went wig shopping (hear the "psycho movie" song in background). What an odd experience. I dealt with someone who wasn't doing this very long and went to a store that had very little in terms of selection, but it was okay. Here were the overall feelings.



1) I didn't bawl like I thought I was going to...instead, I just opened my mind to the idea and tried on different cuts, colours etc.
