well thats it iv done it finally my hair is now been shaved off,i feel so much beter now that im not finding hair all over my house....my wigs sit beter and my scarfs dont slip off.
i think the thing that helped me was doing it nice and slowly,as soon as my bald patch arrived i wore a thick lycra hairband and then started wearing scarfs with a little hair hanging out, then started tucking the hair up the back of the scarf......slowly i got used to my new appearance and then when i shaved…
I think out every pain and struggle there is something waiting to be birthed. This is even more so with the pains of life that we endure. Hair loss is one them. In life we are confronted with so many things, but how you look at them will determine your reaction.
Out of pain I found comes joy, if you allow it to spring forth. Over the years I have gradually lost my hair. Although I did not endure the pain of losing my hair, I've endured other pains. It can be excruciating.
I know…

Let's face it, I'm addicted to wigs.
Before I shaved my head, I had hair of all colors and have used different methods of extensions (don't do clip in, they put too much stress on the hair and eventually leave bald spots) and anything to morph my hair into art.
I've been feeling like I bought all the wigs I like in my area, and was wondering if anyone had specific brands or sites they've had luck with. I'm going to include a wig site I love, and it's full of…

Does anyone know where to purchase good wigs or hairpieces that are good for women who are going through menopause and having hot flashes? Also, does wearing synthetic wigs verses human hair wigs make a difference with how badly you sweat when wearing a wig? Meaning, are the human hair wigs cooler to wear? I’ve just recently had surgery for a total hysterectomy and almost immediately the hot flashes started hot and heavy. I currently wear a Synthetic topper wig which makes me sweat something…

Just curious...what, in your opinion, was the cause of the beginning of your hair loss?
For me...I was under a tremendous amount of stress. One thing came after the other for a number of years (including a strenuous marriage and owning a hair salon/spa...a whole other story). Towards the end, things became quietly unbearable for me...from getting a divorce to buying a house and moving into the house on the same weekend as switching jobs.
I met my boyfriend…

So I have had Alopecia Universalis since I was 14 and I have been wearing a wig since I was 14 dealing with the torture of others and being the laughter of all the other kids at school. People always thought I had cancer that's why I wore a wig some girls even tried to pull it off of my head.I am currently 18 and college student. Nobody has seen me without a wig except my mom my sister & my boyfriend. I am finally beginning to accept myself and love myself without the hair. I want to go…

So about 3 weeks ago I received my new Freedom wig. I was really scared at first because I didn't want to get my hopes up about it. I didn't want to get it, put it on, and hate it! I didn't want to find out that after all the time, effort and money that went into getting it, it wasn't for me.
Well my fears were quickly put aside...I LOVE IT!! It is so comfortable and realistic. I have found that it makes me more satisfied with me. What I mean is that having been bald for as long as I…

Every day i think if only???? If only i had hair
If only, would my life be different
If only, i would be treated different in this society
If only, I could have normal relationships
This constant thought of if only..... brings this aching pain that i am unable to shake
I have felt over the past few months out of it, i wish i had my hair.... i ask my mum why wont my hair grow, i ask my mum in a playful yet sad way.... and considering i am now 24..... i understand why…

My hair loss started almost 5 years ago. Initially they were small patches.I immediately consulted a dermatologist, who didn´t pay too much attention to the issue. As patches were becoming bigger and bigger, treatments also were modifying (I started with rogaine and local creams with corticoids, then I went with diphenciprone, and finally were corticoid pills, at increasingly high doses)But my hair went on falling more and more. As side effects were so annoying, I decided to suspend all kinds…

I order my units custom made and pay for them over the year (2 per year). I am going to be moving in with friends temporarily, and I would like a spare unit to wear while my other one is drying, I'm styling it, etc. I have long hair so I do most everything to it while it's off my head. Any ideas that are relatively inexpensive and quick to get? Thanks!!

Hey everyone!:)
I've been looking for a good wig store. Well most of you are from the countries with a lot of wig shops, unfortunately, I'm not... There is only a couple and from what I have seen it's terrible quality and very high prices. So where I am going with this is maybe you know some good budget online wig shops witch actually ship internationally? Pleas help out a fellow eastern European alopecian:)

I know Kayla would never ask you all to do this. But we appreciated all those that supported her when she was at Miss America.
With her wedding coming up on May 19, she has entered to win $5,000 towards her wedding cost.
We would greatly appreciate your daily votes of support for her as she tries to win Americas Top Bride.

Went to my first support group today! I drove out to Chino and heard Dr. Richard Strick, who was fantastic. This was only my third day out of the house since shaving my head. Yesterday I ran into an acquaintance who told me that I looked younger! LOL That didn't bother me a bit!
Thanks to Patricia for doing such a great job today.
Ironically, I stopped to get take-out from a favorite restaurant tonite where I was sure the manager was an Alopecian. I had not seen him since my…

I started using Rogaine a few years back because i thought that my eyelashes were falling out. my doctor suggested i put it on my eyebrow area every night and blood flow would supposedly bring it to my eyelashes and hopefully stop them from falling out. Within a few weeks my eyelashes stopped shedding and in a few months they had mostly grown back. Maybe six months to a year later, I noticed that I had eyebrow hairs coming in. I used temporary eyebrow tattoos at the time so I had to shave my…

There is so much support out there for Alopecia. I had no idea and I just want to scream it from my house-top. I felt so lost (still do for the most part) but I feel there is hope. Life will go on whether my hair chooses to join in or not. I think I may even be able to go back to church and not fear for the person sitting behind me to look at the back of my balding head. (Of course I will have my "fabulous, perfect hair on).....I think I can do this....maybe :/

So my eyebrows are beginning to fall out really bad now. I'm going to the dermatologist on Tuesday to learn my fate and see weather or not I have Alopecia or some type of other condition that could be cured. No bald spots on my head, but I fear that will eventually change. My eyelashes are beginning to thin as well, and I'm Trying to prepare myself for the inevitable. None of my friends know that I'm facing this condition, I'm to embarrassed to say anything plus I know a lot of people will…
