Regrowth Update

I thought that it was about time that I updated my regrowth blog. I'm really happy to say that the regrowth of hair on my head has been pretty impressive. I've gone from having 20+ patches to them all filling in. Some have still to thicken up a bit.

I just found out that the Minnesota Center for Book Arts has selected one of my pieces, "Autotomy", for their Quantified Aesthetics exhibition that will run from March 12th to June 20th. MCBA is the largest book arts center in the nation, and I couldn't feel more validated!

Hairpieces

Has anybody ever bought a wig from Best Wig Outlet? I found a really cute human hair piece, Sepia - HB Prom, and it was a really really good price for Human hair. I am so leary about buying online. I have one now that I got thru an area salon. It is supposed to be human hair and it was rather pricy. To put it bluntly, I hate it. Has anyone ever worn the forever young wigs??

Just wondering if anyone here has worn the forever young wigs and what do you think about them....they are low priced and I bought one called "you sexy thing"...lol...but it is very pretty and was wondering about the other ones and what you all think about them??

Update - I hope this gives you hope!

Hi Everyone!!



I have thought long and hard about updating on Alopecia World - I didn't want to upset anyone with my good news...but then thought...HEY...If this could give even one person a bit of hope...it's very much worth it!!



The good news is that I have 100% complete regrowth. I shaved my head on January 24th 2009, and by October 2009, the last patch had grown over.

Such a relief!

I feel like this community has taken a huge weight off my shoulders. For so long, I felt like I was the only one dealing with this. I'd seen women losing their hair on hair transplant tv commercials, but never really gotten to talk to anyone dealing with the condition. My First Day of College

Welp... after almost 6 years I finally did it!!!! I started back to school today after graduating from HS in 2004. The past few years going back to school has been so scary for me for some reason... I even started the financial aid process and got accepted into like 3 or 4 different schools and never followed through!! New Growth!

Okay, my hairloss was about 80-90% due to my Lupus. I have now been on Plaquinel since Nov 23 and a Biotin/Fish Oil regimen since Nov 1. The first picture shows the peak of my loss before I noticed that I didn't seem to be losing and the second picture is today. Just Friday I thought I saw 1/2" hairs among the 2-3" hairs. Treatment options

What sort of treatment are you guys finding effective. What levels are your Medical Insurance providers covering your treatments? I have seen some International Medical Insurance that cover at 100%. I think it would be great for everyone to post what they are trying and what sort of success they are having. Any tips or advice welcome.

My hair's growing back. I can finally get off the cortisone treatment. As for the acne side effect from the medicine, I get to start another medicine. Yippee! Be strong, have hope. =D

Here goes my RANT!

Here goes my RANT! please take it for what its worth, no more no less, I am a repair technician, I fix things for a living, therefore find it difficult to except my medical Doctors disheartening prognosises concerning the very obvious autoimune desease alopecia totalis that I have been plagued with as incurable due to lack of knowledge on there part. still positive and rocking out!!!

Grey Gardens

My husband and I just finished watching the movie Grey Gardens...starring Drew Barrymore. Has anyone seen this movie? It was an incredibly emotional movie, and it made me cry....If you haven't seen it, it is a must.

Going fast

It seemed like my AA was taking a vacation as I hadn't noticed any new bald patches for quite some time. And then BAM over the last week I've lost a LOT of hair. I woke up last Thursday with two partial eyebrows, so I shaved the rest. I have also lost a lot of body hair, which feels weird (I was pretty hairy). My clothes actually feel different.
