Latest instalment of new hair

The new hair i found a month ago has now turned brown and there are lots of new growth on the top of my head again this new is only white fluff but maybe it will go the same way as the other hair has. My eyes have begun to really annoy me now as they are so itchy and irritated at the moment i can only hope that this means that i have eyelashes coming in but that shall remain to be seen.

Dont laugh at me....

Ok where do I start...Everyone who has children knows what it is like to love them so much it hurts and just to think of some one hurting them can tear your heart out of your chest. That is how I feel for all three of my kids, but my daughter has a special place in my heart, she has the condition called Alopecia Areata Universal. She lives a normal life like every other kid out there, she just doesnt have hair. My worst fear is her being made fun of and how she is going to handle it. Last night… Continue

The secret is out!

I was initially going to keep alopecia a secret from everyone I worked with but it's been slowly seeping out. I was walking home from work one day and it was soooo hot out that halfway home I ripped the wig off. Although I know I shouldn't, I tucked my wig away in my purse on the side of a busy street. Shortly afterwards I ran into a woman I work with and didn't realize she wouldn't recognize me but I said hi anyways and kept walking. About five steps beyond her she turned and out came… Continue

Quick Question

My head has been itchy, basically since all this this began a few weeks ago. Oh man, has it been itchy!! But a few days ago, my head started to feel achy. Its only on the right side of my head. I am missing a big patch on the right side. I was just wondering if this is normal, or if it is something I should go back to the doctor early? I have an appointment on the 16th, to talk about the topical temovate treatment (which is NOT working). Am I okay to wait to go back to see him, or should I go… Continue

I've gone National...kinda!

Hey Fam, I'm on a National committee for the federal government, it is the National Civil Rights Leadership Committee. I received a notice that it is time to update the picture on our website and poster. After pondering for hmmm, let me see, 2 seconds, I decided to send a shot of the "GREAT BALDINI" aka me with my new Bald look. The poster is displayed throughout the country in every state, area office, the website is seen by thousands of employees. I expect I'll get questions, so far I've only… Continue

That Awkward Inbetween Stage

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a nice Labor Day Weekend.

I cant decide what to do with my white fuzzies.

To shave or not to shave. They dont look bad and I actually had someone tell me they thought I did the Platnum Thing. So 1990 something......Was it a backhanded compliment or a Queenie remark? With my friends probably both.

The white/transparent hair is about 40-50% of what used to be on my head with no patches. Since the begining of the year I have… Continue

For the Record: It's been about two months since I shaved my head and...

Being Bald is Wonderful, I don't know how I survived this long without shaving my head. I've learned so much about myself and others, especially as it relates to Baldness. Here's a list of a few of the amazing things I've learned about being Bald:

1. Alway use a multi-blade shaver (three blades or more) to shave your head, not only are they great for a smooth shave, but they will not nick and cut you like the single or double bladed cheapies. I learned this the hard way, I was scheduled to… Continue

How we express our feelings is just as important as the feelings we express

I shared this with the Men Who Don't Mind group and thought it might do some good to share it with the rest of Alopecia World as well. Of course, I'd love to know how you feel about these matters.

It's one thing for me or anyone else to accept the fact that alopecians -- or anyone else, for that matter -- may feel the way they do about something, but it's quite another thing altogether for someone to express…

Not a good day...

In an attempt to personalize my page, I have been in the process of uploading some photos of my hairloss. What a depressing reality test this is! Somehow, I must be imagining myself with more hair. After my last round of AT, the regrowth looked like a rather advanced case of male pattern baldness. So okay, I have been getting away with wearing a hat to work. My new photos reveal small bald patches at the back of my head and it looks like I'm soon going to have to shave again. Oh, how I hate… Continue

Hopeful update...new growth!

Well i hope I'm not speaking too soon, but I wanted to give an update to all my friends and new-comers that may be cruising through Alopecia World in search of some positive results, news, episodes... I started losing my hair in January 2008. By May most of it had fallen out (about 95%), however before I lost it all (as you can see from my pics) I had some regrowth. I "tip-toed" around my new hair paying very little attention to it. I didn't want to get too attached to it or scream to everyone… Continue

My Story

When I first descovered a bald spot, I freaked out. I went through all the reasonings for it. I decided it was probably because I had just died my hair, and maybe it was too much. It was only small about the size of a quarter. A couple weeks later it was the size of a loonie. I was starting to get more worried at this point, so I went to the doctor, they did some blood work, and the doctor came in and said you have Alopecia Areata. I was so confused at this point. She did however tell me my… Continue

Angry Eyes

My favorite part of the movie "Toy Story" is when Mrs. Potato Head packs Mr. Potato Head's angry eyes "just in case".

Later on, Mr. Potato Head gets mad and yells 'Prepare to meet my ANGRY EYES'. He actually grabs a pair of shoes and sticks them in his eye holes...and runs into a wall. Yesterday, as I was drawing in part of my eyebrows, that scene came to mind. I started laughing because I thought about drawing in 'angry eyes' one day. Not only can I change my hair to match my mood, I can… Continue

Because you asked....

The wig that I am wearing is from Tony of Beverly. The wig is called 'Cali'. I am wearing the color "Sunset Red". There are LOTS of color choices! I ordered it from Wilshire Wigs (http://www.wilshirewigs.com/CALI-by-Tony-of-Beverly-pr-4042.html) When I ordered it, it was $90, but I just checked again and it is $120 now. It is a synthetic wig, but other than that, I don't really know much about wigs. It only comes in 'average' size and I need a petite size. But, rolling the bottom under once… Continue

new wig and a shaved head =O

Hi, hello, hey, etc.

If I haven't replied your comments lately, I'm sorry! I've been busy traveling and visiting with people I haven't seen in awhile. Being home sure has a different feel to it!

Today was the big day! I got my new wig from Miss Peggy Tom and it's pretty! An extra plus: The new wig doesn't require wig tape to hold in place, which is a major thumbs up. And there were no Top Model makeover tears from me today as Miss Peggy shaved my head. It was actually an… Continue

RE: Any AA people out there with the snake pattern?

Hi there guys,

Just wondering if there are any of you with the same pattern of AA as me. I have the snake like pattern that wraps around the nape of the neck, behind the ears and temple areas of the scalp. I found Jessica, on Alopecia World, who I've talked to and has the same pattern too. I think we really helped eachother out by just sharing our experiences. It is a strange pattern and not a lot of us Alopecians have it. If anyone out there would like to share their story, I'd love to… Continue
