turning a corner...

although I have had a couple of hard days this past month in dealing with my alopecia, overall, I really feel like I have turned a corner and feel much more comfortable in my own skin and confident. Where the heck is Mandy??

Hi friends!! What an unbelievably busy month it has been! I'm sorry I haven't been on and active as much as usual! It makes me sad and I miss you guys!! Just to let you know what's going on...I've quit my job, picked up and moved from Chicago back to my parents' basement in Fort Wayne, IN so that I could afford to go back to school full time. Teasing!!!

Well, so much for Della getting through the first few days with no complications. Yesterday during recess a little boy took Della's hat and glasses and threw them on the ground. Then, when Della tried to get them back, he grabbed them and ran off. Even though my twins are in different classes, Angel chased him and tried to get them back for her. Patchy eyebrows and a couple of eyelashes

Okay, so I wake up on Monday morning (after being high and doped up on Ultram all weekend for a bruised tailbone -- don't ask how I got it) and I have to rub my eyes and use a little Visine because lo and behold, my eyebrows are growing back! New Alopecian.

Hello Everyone.

This is all new for me. I was recently diagnosed with Alopecia Areata about 4 months ago. I couldnt believe it, Im the kind of person that loved doing my hair, and getting it coloured, and all that girly stuff. It's Back!!!

Okay, I stopped shedding for almost 3 weeks but I started shedding heavily recently. I thought that maybe the Rogaine I was using had helped so I started back but now I am shedding again. Maybe it is a result of when I stopped recently or starting back the Rogaine. When I first started using it I seemed to shed alot heavier. So maybe this will take a little time. Some people............................

My school has this new strict rule about wearing hats unless you have a medical condittion (which i have). The office , security guards and my teachers all know why i wear my hat. So today while me and my friend were walking around the school the head security guy came up to me and said i know you have a reason to wear your hat but i need to see a doctors not (and of course i didnt have one i dont carry around doctors note's with me) so the jerk made me take off my hat (there was a decent… Continue

touching base

I haven't had that much time to come on here lately, so I thought I would touch base with what is going on.

1) my hair is still getting worse, but the extensions are still working fine. I have about 20 hairs left right behing my ear and as soon as thoses are gone, then I will be bald from 2 inches above my ear and down. That is ridiculous!

2) My eyebrows are worse, but I still haven't done the tattoo. I found someone else to doit, I'm just waitingfor some money. I hate credit card… Continue

Bald versus wig!

I have, for the first time, bought a wig I like and are comfertable to wear... but it is not as easy as that:)



I have had alopecia for 20 years and have never worn a wig before for more than a coupl of seconds. Ofcourse I have tried some, but never started using it. I have actually been very proud of that. GET THIS!!!

So my school was being sued for years and recently they lost. Some doctors screwed up six years ago and the families of the patients sued and won. So what do they do? Raise the nursing student's tuition! Yeah, good idea. We don't have a nursing shortage and the nurses were the one's who screwed up after all so put it on them (heavy sarcasm). Anyway 2000 a term = 6000 more a year and I have to figure something out.

Then this wonderful scholarship presents itself. I'm stoked it's 5000 a year… Continue

Master Cleanse day Four and a half

So Day three went pretty well. I wasn't hungry at all, stayed busy with house work and preparing for school, and felt pretty great. I didn't post because I was so busy and I really had nothing to report. The laxative tea that night however didn't work more than to give me a bit of a stomach ache for a short period. decisions.

I woke up again this morning to stare at several strands of black hair on my pillow and sheets. Earlier in the shower more strands fell out. Looking at myself in the mirror, it doesn't seem like I'm losing anything. In fact, my hair looks like it's growing. But I know that's not the case. This Friday when I go see Miss Peggy to get my new wig, I think I'm going to ask her to shave off the hairs on my head right now. UPDATE!!!! Craziness... but what isn't in my life.

SO.... HAIRS ARE GROWING BACK IN CERTAIN SPOTS.... wait for it wait for it.....



Oh that's right, the hairs growing back are completely WHITE!



I can't wait, I hope long white hairs start to grow and then hopefully it will cover my head and then I can have the hair of an 80 year old women.
