I am sure it has been discussed but I can't locate the thread. Do you shave in the shower? Do you just let the warm water run over your head? Do you use a cream or soap? Do you stand in front of the sink having showered the previous evening? Do you put a warm wash cloth on your head for a short period of time first? Do you shave every morning or evening? Do you work in short strokes or long? Do you shave with the grain against the grain or even sideways? Do you go through blades as quickly as I…

Well, what can I say... after all this time has past!
It has been over a year now since I lost all my hair.
Everything was going great, so I thought!
Damn! I don't deal with stress as well as I used too.
I lost my hair in October, a year has now past...
My hair grew all back, oh what joy it brought to my…

Hi everyone! Im quite curious as to how many children have regrowth and at what rate? and how often does it regrow just to fall out again? Mikey began losing his hair in october 2009 and recently has begun to show white hair regrowth. The dr said Mikey would have his hair regrow but didnt gurantee the cycle wouldnt repeat itself. Which of course is my biggest concern. Just wondering whats headed our way!! Mikey often talks about geting his big hair back, and we just shaved his head on Feb 8,…

I found a 6cm bald spot a few days ago. I have just been to see my GP who asked if I am stressed. I said "yes but no more than normal" and he said " don't worry, it usually grows back..." and that was it! He has agreed to send me for some blood tests; needless to say I will hope I can see a different doctor when I go for the results....I feel that I am coping ok with it so far although it's only been a few days. My best friend has been very supportive but my mother is driving me mad already…

I heard this on some home and garden TV show today, but I feel like it really applies to all of us here who are dealing with some form of alopecia....especially if at one point you had hair and unexpectedly lost it.
"Let go of your old self image so you can start loving yourself as you are today."
This quote really stuck with me. One of the hardest things about having female pattern baldness for me has been remembering how thick and blonde my hair used to be and…

Hi everybody :)
These are questions I'd really love your opinion on...
But first I'd like to give you the 411 on myself. I was diagnosed with AA October of 2008. I had just moved to a different region and 2 months later, I found a bald spot. It grew back with a steroid injection, but a month later I found another one. The following months I discovered more and more and decided I would soon be bald. I became depressed. I didn't understand why it…

It's so hard talking to my mother about alopecia areata as it always ends up with her sobbing a little. Don't get me wrong, I know she loves me and wants to help and is supporting me the best that she can. But it still gets to me as I end up worrying that I'm stressing her out. In a way, it helps that she's miles and miles away in Canada and not here. I'm not sure I could handle her fussing over me in person. I try all sorts of approaches, like joking about it to alleviate the tension and her…

I need to ask you guys a question. I've been looking online to find some answers and there'S not a single website which says anything about my problem.
I had my eyebrows done about a year and a half ago. Now it looks alot lighter than in the beginning. That's actually ok because I thought it was abit too dark at first. Now it'S lighter and it looks like it's a little purple or red / reddish. Do you guys have the same problems? I definitely need to get them done again but I…

I have a slightly funny story today:)
So, on facebook, Alopecia Areata requested my friendship. I said yes and decided to check out the profile. Apparently, there is a herbal hair growth treatment that is all natural or whatever. I decided to humor them and went on to the site that ws posted. Gosh, I was in for a shock. 12000 dollars for one year of this treatment, that probably doesn't work. I'm trying to save money for band camp! I would rather keep losing my hair than…

Last week I found out that all my nose hair fell out. I stumbled upon this discovery as i went to pick my boogers because it had been a while (approximately 3 weeks) since I last went on the treasure hunt. And to my surprise, all my gold had been stolen! I raised my head and looked in the mirror and I saw my brain through my nostrils with not a single hair blocking my view.
I never realized how function-able and necessary every single part my
body was...such as my nose hair,… Continue

Dear AW Family,
This morning an earthquake measuring 8.8 struck Chile between the cities of Santiago and Concepcion. This happened in the middle of the night, so the death toll has not even begun to really be tallied. Tsunami warnings have been issued for Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, and Antarctica, and warnings have been issued for all of Central America and French Polynesia. A tsunami advisory has been issued for Hawaii as well, with watches and warnings to follow.…

Well, I have been dealing with my hair issues for over 10 years and every time I think that I am coming to terms with it, I just go right back down. I was about to give up and go get a wig and broke down with my doctor this week. She said she isn't going to give up on me. I went from a diagnosis of LPP(lichen planopilaris) to now AGA(androgenic alopecia). I was told that there was a patient that had the same symptoms as me that had regrowth on aldactone. I tried it when I was first having…

Going through a rough time again i suppose. I haven't been on this site in the longest time. I think it's like if i do then it's me admitting i have alopecia. Which in all honesty makes no sense whatsoever, because i'm completely bald...When i go out i wear a wig and a hat or scarf over it. I think it looks too fake if there isn't any "decoration" to it. If i'm just at home i wear just a winter type cap/hat. I feel miserable everyday. I feel like i've lost myself. I want my hair back. Why can't…

This Sunday after Church a young girl came up to me and wanted to introduce me to her friend. The girl informatively said, "she has the other type of chemo." It was so hard for me not to giggle. My little friend knew I wasn't sick, and she constructed a creative introduction.

Last week I encountered a rather inquisitive courier. He looked at me and asked straight out, "Is that your real hair?" Feeling annoyed at his lack of sensitivity, i just looked at him. Also, I was caught off guard as nobody has ever asked me before! Most people that see me with my wig on just asks me where I get my hair done because it looks good. :) So I guess I can let just one guy slide..
But it doesn't end there. The courier guy continues with, "oh i guess it's your…
