It burns... it hurts... it makes you want to rip your heart out.
I hate it when it ends the way it does.
I love it when is lasts the way it does.
Why does love hurt so much? I would have done anything for them, can't they see that?
Can't they understand?!
Can't they understand I no longer want to play games, right as I'm about to tell them this, they have already moved on. They have already thrown me out like an old paper bag. Done. Finished. Defeated. Worn…

It is said beauty is only skin deep; I disagree.
Beauty in its truest form is what you find just below the surface, in fact.
In all beings, beauty is a light that shines from within, casting a soft glow on all who are in its presence. With each layer revealed the light grows stronger, warmer, and more radiant. I believe beauty is not skin deep, but rather resides in humble purity at the very core of the soul.
Love yourself today, and shine your beauty on all who surround…

Hi everyone!
I'm handling my female pattern baldness a lot better than I used to handle it. I believe once again that I'm worthy of love and fun. But every now and so often I catch myself thinking "I better enjoy this while I can. If I am ever bald, I won't have this." This is mostly true of dates and relationships with guys. I know my girl friends are there for me and with me no matter what. They think wigs are cool, so this would only be an "exciting" condition to them. Guys, on the…

I have been toying with the idea of shaving my head and getting this hair loss crap out of my life for quite some time now. I've always confided in my family, so naturally I told them that I am considering shaving my head. I wasn't expecting them to jump for joy, but I really wasn't expecting the reactions I got from them either.
My mom cried. At first she was crying because I lost a large clump of hair in the shower. Then I told her that I want to shave my head and she cried even…

I know I know I haven't been around a lot lately ... I'm going to make an honest effort to try harder in 2009. I'm SO SO excited for this new year - I feel energized. Plus I'm ready to reveal my exciting stuff.... *drum roll*. I have convinced my husband to really dedicate to weight loss *claps*. In fact we've even started a youtube channel that will track our progress. I'm thrilled that he's agreed to this, because making a public announcement of your goals is proven to increase success rate.…

I was camping one day in 1991 when a friend asked, “Why do you shave the back of your head and around your ears?”
I had no idea what my friend was talking about. So I found a mirror, looked closely at my head of long, thick hair, and was shocked to discover that large bald spots were developing on the sides and in the back of my head.
Confused and afraid, I consulted a doctor who told me that I was experiencing patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) due to…

In one episode of the sitcom Seinfeld, George dated and claimed to have fallen in love with a bald woman named Georgina.
Jerry couldn’t believe his ears and yelled, “How could you possibly love a bald woman?”
“Since when was love about looks?” responded George.
“It’s always been about looks!” shouted Jerry.
Given that my fiancée, Cheryl Carvery, prefers to keep her head shaved bald because…

A certain sumurai had a reputation for impatient and hot-tempered behaviour. A Zen Master, well known for his excellent cooking, decided that the warrior needed to be taught a lesson before he became any more dangerous. He invited the samurai to dinner.
The samurai arrived at the appointed time. The Zen master told him to make himself comfortable while he finished preparing the food. A long time passed. The samurai waited impatiently. After a while he called out: "Zen Master - have…

I opened the door to my home late Friday night and saw the most beautiful woman in the world. She glistened as I fastened my appreciative gaze on her and thought to myself, “What a lucky man!” I walked in her direction because I needed to divest myself of the things that were in my hands, but as I approached her and noticed that she noticed me, I could feel the rhapsodic rhythm of love beating in my heart. She did not initiate our conversation. Rather, I did because I was so pleased to have her…

Cheryl and I would like to know how you feel about someone (an alopecian or non-alopecian) joining Alopecia World to look for the love of their life.
For the record, we do not have any problem with singles meeting and mingling in Alopecia World as long as they always bear in mind that this…

If there's any good thing living with alopecia can do for you, it's make you more sensitive and responsive to the support needs of other human beings. Like most, if not all, of life's challenges, coping with alopecia calls attention to the very human need for acceptance, affirmation, and other forms vital emotional assistance. It's yet another reminder that it is not good for humans to be alone, isolated and insulated from the embrace and encouragement of those around…

Having a relationship with alopecia is no different from having relationship with hair.
We find someone who accepts our lack of hair, but everything else remains. We still have to battle through the process of merging 2 personalities, and me and rj are no different.
We have our good days, our bad days and the days that our relationship is just a struggle. It's all part of the package of loving and growing with someone.
I am not perfect and neither is…
