After several job interviews, some were successful, I manage baldness now by explaining the situation very simply and quickly at the beginning. Two minutes of explanation are enough to enable my interviewer to focus at other, really important subjects for the job.

2 weeks after finding another bald patch, I decided had enough of having 'hair to hide' so went for a very short cut as not having it run my life.......2 weeks later I can feel the itching tell tale sign, and feel my hair starting too grow back on the area :-)

Really struggling tonight, looking back at me before I lost my hair, and I was so damn beautiful I can hardly believe it. I feel like growing hair is like winning the lottery... does anyone know if people who have been completely bald have grown their hair back? I feel incomplete... I am afraid to go ahead with life, I feel fake without hair.

Day 2 - May 9th, 2013 - The Cancelled Appointment
My boyfriend and I both work on the same project on nightshift. We took half a shift off so that we could get home by midnight and go to my 10:30 am appointment, which was an hour away from our house. On the way there, I noticed a missed call from an unknown number but i didnt really pay much attention to it.
When we got to the office, we found out that the Doc…
ContinueDay 1 - May 8th, 2013 - Discovery...not exactly a "eureka!" moment
It was 6:45am, somewhere on Main Rd. in Chance Cove, NL. I was on my way home from work after a long 13hr night, full of formen and craft that are grown men but have no trouble acting like babies! haha!
[Sidetrack]They're a funny bunch though, and always bring me treats. I just wish they would treat me like an Engineer and not their personal secretary,…

And the other thing is that I am scoring high marks in my school, I feel so energetic and very overwhelmed these days... I really hope that we are will have some good news in the very…

I hate the way I look sometimes. I look in the mirror and think ugly. I do wear a wig, and I can't decide if it is the alopecia that is indirectly making me feel bad, or just a natural female thing to do. I sometimes see myself in my wig and think I look like someone in drag, I don't know if I see the wig for what it is, fake, but I see beyond the wig and look at my face and hate it...
I look at my body and this is something I can control yet I seem out of control and just see myself…

Well i have not been on here for a while. Nor have i made one of these for a long time. So lets just start by saying if you do not want to be depressed or feel bad then you might not want to read this. There are many things in one's life that people cant change and Alopecia is one of them. Many people on this site find happiness. Many people on other sites find happiness. What happened to me wasn't because of this site. Ever since i was a kid i had Alopecia. Doctors told my parents that my…

Granddaughter is having a hard time when other people come to her and tell her they are sorry that she is going though cancer. She also had a lady come up to her and say to her "isn't that a wig?" And then she pulled it off her head. It was in a mall! This devastated my 11 yr old gd and she left the mall.
What would you do?

I find that over the last few years I am suffering oddish medical issues. It seems after I push myself a bit, the next day I'm tired. That is pretty normal.,,, but, I find that my blood feels like it's boiling. I can't pin point to what is going on, but find it's an all over malaise. I've had alopecia for 43 yrs, mostly universalis, and do know my average body temperature is 95. and I have seen it 94. Because I"m still menopausal, the hot flashes begin to come, and it appears it's fed by the…

Everytime I talk to mom about my state, she goes like "why are doing this to me? Why are you making me suffer so bad?" But I am not making her suffer, I just don't know why is she thinking like this, ever since my father had died two years ago, she started acting so nervous and putting blame on me having this disease... She has this weird thought that I am making my hair fall on purpose to get her attention and to make her suffer. I just don't see the point in this, instead of feeling less…

Today was the first day that I ventured out without a hat or wig. Enjoyed wandering through our local garden store and gift shop and then dining at a Mexican restaurant. I received the courage to do this after reading "Boldly Bald Women" by Pam Fitros. Although I have suffered with Alopecia Areata for many years, I only recently lost all my hair to AU. It has been a tough adjustment but have had wonderful encouragement from family and friends.
New to Alopecia World, but thankful for…

anyone live in this state? Im in coventry RI and have never really connected with anyone with Alopecia.....
So fairly recently while reading a passage from a gastroenterology textbook, I came across mention of an association between alopecia areata and Celiac's disease. I have had undiagnosed gastrointestinal issues (primarily chronic abdominal pain episodes) and found this interesting. Does anyone here have GI issues as well? Anyone with confirmed diagnosis of Celiac's disease? I just wondered what the actual prevalence of patients with both conditions was.
In my other readings there…

I have had Alopecia for over 20 years, since I was a little girl. So I consider myself a "seasoned veteran" of this disease. For the most part I'm pretty use to it. The unpredictable nature, wearing wigs, the occasional explanation to someone, etc. However, one thing that had always given me anxiety was dating with my alopecia.
I thought that would never be an issue again once I got married, however I find myself back in the dating world and the anxiety is right there with it. Not…

Hi! My 14 year old daughter has had alopecia for 12 years- alopecia universalis for 10. Recently we were told about upper cervical chiropractic treatment. The belief is that the "body has the natural in born ability to maintain health at its optimal level while the body is balanced and there is no interruption in the transmission of brain messages to the body". Yes, that is a direct quote! Anyway, we have started this therapy. I was wondering if anyone else has had heard of it and more…
