I have tried pretty much every cream out there to try and get my hair back and the one that i'm using now doesn't seem to be doing much either, I've almost given up! The last option that i really have is multiple cortisone injections into my scalp. I don't know much about them and would much appreciate any information or feedback on them...are they painful? I'm not very good with needles but i'll try anything! PLEASE comment if you have any experience with them or even just a bit of info!…

From an online article:
How to Have an Attractive Personality
By an eHow Contributor
Being attractive does not start with outer beauty as many people think. Approachable people often garner attention because of their attitude and demeanor, not their clothing or good looks. With an attractive personality, one can get positive attention from people regardless of physical attractiveness.
1. Exude confidence. By projecting a confident and self-assured…

Years ago I was in a changing room at a gym and a woman walked in and thought I was man because I was not wearing a wig to cover my alopecia and had my back to her. When I turned around she could obviously see that I was a woman, but I still felt shame after I saw the look on her face and she apologized for mistaking me for a man.
That was very painful experience for…

Last week I was grocery shopping and, when I went to check out, a woman approached me to say she thought I was beautiful and that she wished she could do what I do. She went on to explain that she lost most of her hair due to alopecia. I told her I was familiar with alopecia and, in fact, have it myself. She was fearful of what others might say if they knew about her condition, but she really liked my look.
She was wearing a wig and said she normally wears one, so I suggested she…

I first thought my big bald spot was from a bad sun burn I got while vacationing in Myrtle Beach in the Spring of 2010....I went to the beach with my hair wet and pulled back in a tight bun on the back of my head. I sat in my beach chair and read my Nook while my kids played. In the weeks to follow I noticed the sore spot getting larger and more pink. That was May 2010. I eventually showed my mother, she is a nurse and she was alarmed by the size of the spot. I told her I didn't know what to…

Hi Guys!
I don't often write things like this but felt the need considering some thing that have been said out there and because I believe so much in what I am about to say.
I have been going to Amy Gibson at Created Hair for wigs, advice and succor for 5 years now. Over that time she has helped me with so many technical problems, has supported me emotionally and has become a very dear friend.
When I first lost my hair she was was the only person that made me feel truly…

Hello everybody! I'm looking for some advice...
I got diagnosed with alopecia areata in May but it seems to have progressed (or digressed?)and I now have absolutely no body hair. I'm fairly ok with no head hair, I dont like wearing a wig and have gotten used to going out and about with a bald head. I miss my eyebrows though and have been considering getting some semi permanent eyebrow tattoos done.I was just wondering if any of you wonderful people have had these done and if so could…

It's overpriced (as much as Euro Human Hair according to my salon) And gross gross gross. It had this weird static electricity thing going on. It was a huge mistake for me to order my new system in half biolon, supposedly "top-of-the-line synthetic hair that can be heat sytled. And the cap hurt so much that I felt like my skull was going to explode! Not only that but it didn't even stay on properly. Thank goodness I will be able to trade it in for a human hair system, but I will have to wait…

I am somewhat recently divorced after a 25 year relationship. I've had alopecia for about 9 years. I recently went on a couple dates. When I showed him I was actually bald, he said to me the next day that it "weirded" him out. I was so hurt, I've been crying for 2 days. How do you get the courage to put yourself "out there"?

Today at work it was my turn next for a haircut. So i walked up to the desk and Lindsey said, "OK mam your going to be with Sheena today." Before i could say, "ok come on back." The women looked at Lindsey and said," i would rather her not. in a very rude and disgusted tone." I have never cut this women's hair before or met her for that matter. I honestly think she didn't want me cutting her hair
because I'm bald. Like she was afraid she was going to catch it or something. The thing…

This is kinda crazy but I am so against wearing a wig. However I was wondering if I could use the seamless hair extensions all over my head to make it more realistic and would stay on for a month or so? Has anyone heard of it or tried it? Its just an idea but if I could do it I would. My mom is a hairdresser so i think she could get them for dirt cheap if not free.
Hello All
I'm new to this site. Just wanted to share some of my feelings. I'm a 28 yr old girl , living in Mauritius. I have recently observed that I'm losing my hair. I had so beautiful thick hair. I just can't imagine within a year it has become so thin. I've passed some difficult time this year and this stress has really affected my life. I am ever more stressed now upon seeing my very thin hair.
I've seen a doc and tried so many stuff and nothing is working. Recently, my bf…

What can you do or use to cover those bald spots that stand out even after shaving?

I have currently made the decision to stop treatment after I am finished with my prednisone (you have to be weened off of it). Again. I feel like I should keep up with the treatments because my hair has started to grow again but at the same time I feel like I am going against who I really am. As you can see, I am so indecisive about myself which is super strange because back in high school I was all, NO HAIR, DON'T CARE! BRING ON THE MONKEY HATS. I think I have only become insecure because…

Hello I have suffered with alopecia for nearly ten years. I wear a full lace wig and I am really happy with it. I have this system for 5 years now and it is the best method to cover up my alopecia and help me lead a normal life. I have a re groom on my system every 6 weeks at a specialist salon close to my home.
I am moving away to Germany at the end of next week to work for 3 months, I am excited to be going but stressed about getting my hair done out there.
I was just…

I have had Alopecia for 10 years now. This small area of my chin and upper lip are the only areas I can grow any hair! So weird that it forms a perfect patch.
Anyone else have strange areas of growth like this? Lets all share and have fun with this!…
