My mum is constantly looking for something that doesn't have any harmful side-effects that might be able to help get rid of my alopecia, and she recently came across thymuskin. Apparently it helps the thymus in someway (lost the piece of paper but will look for it lol) by providing nutrients and helping create antibodies that the body needs. It says it can take 9-12 months to work so I am going to try it for my mum because it can't hurt and it smells like vanilla! So I will post some pics on my…

Alot has changed for me in the past little while. When i first started on this site I was dealing with alot of emotions linked to my alopecia. I was debating on whether or not to go talk to a therapist and i finally did. I had a couple of appointments but found that talking to her didnt really help much (to each their own right) but I did it for my mom. I actually found writting in a journal helped alot more then anything, it was almost like taking all of it out of my soul and leaving it on the…

It's been a while since we blogged last, so I thought that I'd give a bit of an update.
Nathan is still progessing really well. I thought that perhaps we'd hit a point and it would all catch up with him, but for now at least that doesn't seem to be the case.
Most of the time he just doesn't bother about hat or bandana, and at Christmas, he actually asked for me to come in cause he wanted to show his cousins and I think needed the reassurance in case they asked questions.…

Hi All,
I have been thinking about all of the lack of research/treatments/cures for our disease. There are so many great people on this site. Why can't we start something that raises money devoted to find a cure? I know two people who have a child with a condition (not alopecia and fatal unfortunately) that have devoted so much time and effort into raising money for a cure....and both work full time. I was just thinking if we really put some thought into this, could we make a difference? I…

Well, this is the first time I have written a blog on here, but I figure it's a good way of getting things off my chest.
I first noticed a tiny bald patch about the size of a penny on the top of my head back in August and I started to panic. I went to the doctor and chatted with friends and they all told me not to worry as it was most likely stress. This made me feel a lot better. I was travelling to Canada for 7 weeks 2 days later for work, so I went and put the bald patch out of my…

So it has been brought to my attention that there is a alopecia convention in Indianapolis this year, can some one give me any details on this event? I don't live in Indy, but it is my hometown and I would love to attend.

Perhaps a year to re-think how we think of ourselves with ALOPECIA..... not losing hair.... just GAINING FACE....
I want to share with you that I am grateful (possibly a strange choice of words for some of you) for the fact that I have alopecia.. it's really made me see what's important in my life..... I am a MUCH better person for this experience, despite the tough times (hardly any these days) in the last 9 years I can honestly say ALOPECIA has made me a much more caring person...…

Hi there,
We are using the Hair Up treatment by Dr.Gonen and I had a question for the other users. It has been almost 4 weeks since we started and there are some areas with white hair growth. The question is have the other users noticed an all over bumpiness on the scalp. It's like where the follicles are there is a goosebump. Any insight as to how she is progressing would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and happy new year!

So tonight was my night! I'd planned to shave, but at the last minute, clippers in hand, I went short buzz instead. Still I feel liberated, and I know I'll not have to deal with those long hairs all over the place that are still shedding so severely! I did find a few more bald spots in this process, which was a little disheartening, but I know it's all part of the AA process, so I didn't grieve over them, just looked then moved on. I might go all the way bald quite soon, but for now, the super…

Year 2000 i graduated high school and this coming year i start college lol a little late but ohwell :O) the emotional rollercoaster i have gone thru over hair is amazing but i have found this site and it helps knowing i'm not the only one.
The reason for my post is to hope that everyone who either is new to alopecia or has had it for years can finally if you havent already move even closer to acceptance not from those around us but self acceptance. We will have our bad days even…

So, I have this amazingly "awesome" cold that has decided to reek havoc on my nose, eyes and take away all of my energy. Because of this I have been doing a lot of sitting and I have noticed some very annoying aspects of my version of alopecia. I am having some regrowth, yeah!! But not where I want it to be.... It seems that this disease thought it would be funny to try and regrow the hair in between my eyebrows but not the actual eyebrows. So, now I am sick and have the startings of a unibrow.…

"Self-acceptance comes from meeting life's challenges vigorously. Don't numb yourself to your trials and difficulties, nor build mental walls to exclude pain from your life. You will find peace not by trying to escape your problems, but by confronting them courageously. You will find peace not in denial, but in victory."
