Pregnancy might work!

I have a baby who is almost a month old and it has been an experience. The most amazing and unexpected thing is that being pregnant with him actually kick started the growth of hair on my body! Its not exactly all over but growth is taking place. I think it is because of the hormone changes that took place in my body that made it happen. I'm happy about the changes and hope it continues and just a message to all the women out there with alopecia, don't try this unless you really want to.

Going to see a Naturpath today. Hoping to get some help with maybe diet? Been reading a lot about "leaky gut" syndrome and the part it plays in auto immune disorders.

Science fair and diet

My daughter, 14 years old, has now completed 120 days of her new diet. No milk, no wheat, no sugar, just nutricious food, vitamins and good bacterias for her gut. She was about 2/3 bald, and is now growing hairs, all over her head. We followed the program of Rob Swiersky on "healing alopecia.com". His idea is that alopecia has its cause from the gut. I think Rob knows a lot about alopecia. He,himself, recovered from alopecia by changing his diet.

Good luck! Important…

Science fair and alopecia

Hello,

My name is Devyn Napier and I am a senior in high school. I am extremely interested in the medical field and I attend an all academy school in Concord, Ca. I am in the Medical and Biotechnology Academy and I absolutely love it. I get to wear scrubs to school (so comfortable!) and I was awarded the opportunity to work in the emergency room of John Muir.

In my biological science research class this year, our project is to develop our own science fair experiment. I will…

What's the best wig tape that won't pull out new growth?

Hi! I am hoping someone can help us. My daughter is 9 and was recently diagnosed with Alopecia.  Her hair loss was quick and she now has a partial wig or topper that must be taped in every morning and removed every night.  (She was not comfortable with the full wig topper, felt it was too tight and itchy.) The partial was cut from a  100% virgin human hair wig and is very nice and was quite expensive, but she is upset daily because as we remove the tape, she is finding regrowth stuck to the…

New to the site

Hi! I am new to Alopecia World and glad to have found it. I have scarring alopecia caused by LPP. I am wondering if there are any members who live in the Edmonton area (Alberta, Canada) that have scarring alopecia? I was diagnosed in September after finding my first bald spot in May. Would love to chat with someone from my neck of the woods.

Hard times

I first noticed my alopecia in Sept 2012. Fast forward to Dec 1, 2013, and I have lost all but a 1 inch strip of hair on the top of my head. I have a head full of regrowth, not too long ( A few inches), but still regrowing. In the last week, I have noticed probably 4 little finger tip size spots of baldness again. I have come to terms that I am starting this process over. This has been devastating for me because I have held out so much hope that I would get that beautiful head of hair back…

How to step up to happiness

I recently came across this poem and it just spoke to me, so I thought I would share it with you.

Stepping up to Happiness

Everybody Knows ~

You cannot be all things to all people

You cannot do all things at once

You cannot do things equally well

You cannot do things better than everyone else

Your humanity is showing just like everyone else’s.

So ~

You must find who you are and be…

Alopecia is a journey

I am a 34 year old male who has alopecia universalis. In my early twenties I was in a car accident which seemed to trigger alopecia. Within months I was completely hairless. It was a very difficult transition for me. I had trouble dealing with the change as well as self esteem issues. I would become angry if someone stared at me or asked questions relating to my new appearance.

That is now old news. I am thankful for alopecia. It has helped me learn to deal with change in my life. I…

Laser Comb

Have any of you tried using a Laser Comb? They are expensive and I'm trying to decide whether it would be worth it. I have female pattern hair loss. I would not expect re-growth, but I'm considering trying the laser comb to slow down the hair loss.

Thanks,

Renee

Alopecia Mommy

Hello Alopecia World!

I'm a new mommy (two babies under 2 years old!) and I started losing my hair shortly after a minor car accident while I was pregnant with my son. I gave birth to my daughter last summer and experienced about 90% hair loss following delivery.  I'm curious if there are any other moms out there that have had this happen to them?  Or anyone that struggles with alopecia and wants to share...

I started writing on wordpress:…

And the votes for the best wigs online goes to...?

I'm going to have to get a wig this week. (Ordered online to start, I think.) I am blonde and have always worn my hair long since it grew back 30 years ago. Now, here I am again facing the same challenge but in a much more advanced world than it was and as an adult. I am not ready to sport the real hairless me. I am always cold, and I work with children and think that hair would be the best option for me at this time. Can you wonderful people give me some suggestions on a good wig company…
