I joined this site about 6 months ago, and I was not sure what the group was about. I became AA when I was 15. That was 17 years ago.

I can see now that the members here are kind of broken into 2 groups; Those whom are seeking a remedy for there gift, and those who embrace it. I am of the ladder. Second Opinion...

I got my second opinion from the private dermatologist on Wednesday.



Overall, I was more satisfied with her explanation of what was happening and felt that she did a much more thorough investigation of my scalp.

Questions..I hope someone can give me some answers..

Hi guys, so I have been struggling with shedding for the past 19 months on and off with hair shedding. My hair is noticeabley thinner and it feels like I am washing so little hair in the shower lately. My eyelashes have started to thin considerbaly and I ALWAYS have lashes all over my face. Just got back from derm....

I just got home from a dermatologist appointment. I haven't seen her in about 6 months, due to the fact I learned I was pregnant and was not willing to get the cortisone shots during the pregnancy. My hair is falling out rapidly and I asked her if it was because I am pregnant and it really started falling out fast when I got pregnant. Now according to Dr. Oz.....I have a brain tumor?????????

I know today's Oprah show was a rerun, God knows I had several people tell me months ago the revelation that my hair loss was caused by a brain tumor!!!!!!! coeliac, underactive thyroid and alopecia

hi i am new to this blog but i was wondering if anyone out there has alopecia areata, coeliac disease and underactive thyroid disease too as well as psorisis of the scalp. It burns and itches, two patches one bigger than the other, tried 2 lots of scalp injections they did not work. i have had this for about 18 months now, is there any hope for me to be normal again.

My first visit to the dermatologist

I went to the dermatologist today and here's what happened...



He asked where and when my hair loss patches occurred



He asked if there was any family history of:-

- alopecia - my mum had an issue for a short period of time when she was 16 (50+ years ago) but full regrowth occurred after it was treated with some cream and has never reoccurred

Just downright lonely

Many things have changed in my life over the last month been trying to take it all in stride. Picked up the synthetic wig I ordered yesterday & was very disappointed. When I put it on, it looks totally fake...want nothing to do with it, just want my hair back. Can talk to my husband, close friends and family yet they will never completely understand although they try...

Everyone is beautiful today, absolutely stunning!

Lately everywhere I go someone has given me a compliment on how beautiful I look bald. It’s a nice unexpected change. I believe that it is because I made a choice to walk out the door with a smile on my face every day. Stupid Hats

Am I the only one who gets compliments on wearing hats all the time. Whenever I take my daughter to school, or go somewhere before I do my workout and shower. I just throw on a hat. I looks like ugly strands of hair underneath a hat. I look in the mirror and want to BREAK it. I hate hate hate wearing hats. I have to wear them at the river, camping, when its windy. Then...... Bye Bye, Eyebrows

Within the past 4 days I have noticed that my eyebrows are quickly disappearing from my face. This is hitting me a little bit harder than I thought. You see, when I finally shaved my head this past April and got a beautiful new wig, I felt like a brand new person! HELP

Ok... so I thought I could handle this.... cant handle this....... Iwant to be free to walk around just as I am BALD... why is it such a big deal... and why do i do things to my self to make it worse... eyelashes

totally gutted, i have just noticed 2nite that on 1 eye my eyelashes r thinnin out in the middle, dont know wat to do, i have found it hard not havin any eyebrows, my hair on my head is still growin but other parts r still fallen out, how confusing is this alopecia, so pissed off now, thot i was gonna keep them but it was to gd to be true,

Getting sympathetic looks is one thing...

but having a card posted through your door is another. A mother of a boy I used to go to school with posted a card through my door this morning saying the family was thinking and praying for me and that God would heal me. I'm assuming she has seen me out and about in a headscarve but still most people know I have alopecia. If I were my brows and lashes...where would I be??

They're gone, except for the odd random lash or brow. I miss the brows especially. Since January of this year I have pretty much lost every hair on my body. Everything below the waist, I say so long and farewell...but for everything above the neck...ouch...this hurts.
