I Didn't know how to get the article from Yahoo on to this website but everyone should try to read it. People should think about how lucky they are to have hair instead of this.

And I noticed on the www.naaf.org conference photo album that the little girls got this doll there:
MGA's Bratz Dolls One-Up Barbie On Going Bald
There’s a difference between a true investment and a half-hearted effort. And this distinction is illustrated in the saga of the bald doll.
In January, cancer advocate Jane Bingham launched a Facebook page asking Mattel to introduce a bald version of Barbie to support children…

For those of you who have significant others, I was wondering how did you tell them you had alopecia, how long did you wait, and what was their reaction? Thanks in advance :)

Well "summer" is over. My daughter was home schooled last year. She thinks she is ready to go back to elementary school.
We live in a time when openness or "coming out" is accepted. This summer she gained a great deal of confidence. Going to public places without a hat or wig. She wants to go to 4th grade without anything on her head! We did manage to stay in contact with some of her friends from previous school years. She is fine without anything on head wile playing with them at…

Hello anyone who might read this. Well, after several weeks of research, discussion, tears, and more, I have finally, finally decided what my first wig will be and confirmed my appointment to come in and have my head shaved and the piece applied. In a way, I feel relief--the anticipation part will soon be over and I can get down to the business of dealing with what it's like to be in this new phase. I admire you all who have been on this journey so much.
For me, one thing that is…

Hope I am doing this right! I am Grandma with alopecia--a few years now. In San Antonio for years now, I would love to meet with others in San Antonio. See that I missed the early August gathering. Please keep me in mind for next one.

This morning was my second appointment with my dermatologist. The first time I went I had one spot that was the size of a dollar coin and I was very frightened. The doctor wanted to give me a shot into my head but when I asked would they numb the area he said no thus I declined.I am TERRIFIED of needles and I do mean terrified. Why? Because my father was sick from my birth until I was 11 when he died and had to get blood drawn ALL the time. He talked about how painful it was after a while…

Hello everyone. First off, thanks to you all who commented on my first post. I went away on vacation and saw a bunch of family, including many young nieces and nephews. While it was fun, I kept thinking over and over how this will be the last time anyone on my husband's side of the family will see me with my natural hair. The little girls loved playing with my hair and I was just so nervous about them making a comment about my growing bald spots. Thankfully they did not. But ack.. why do I…

A Brisbane Times news articled states:
“When Joanna Rowsell's right eyebrow disappeared 14 years ago, an event that only marked the beginning of hair loss all over her then nine-year-old body, she could never have imagined feeling good about the experience that completely threw her self-esteem and caused her to hide under hats and wigs.”
“On Saturday night in London, the same person stood before the world as she was crowned an Olympic world champion. At age 23, bald…

Hey all.
Yet another small thing I feel like sharing.
I went out to a club bald. :)
like, no scarf, no hat, no hair bald, to an alcohol filled, too loud doof-doof music club. First time ever, and it was awesome.
I've been wanting to do this for a while now. I think clubs are fairly high pressure anyway, with all the guys looking to find girls, and the girls all dolled up so that they can find guys or at least look better than the other girls. I figured if I can be…

Alopecia does make you a better person at heart i agree with that but it is a pain and brings many hardships to people's lifes especially mine and you do not know if people leave you or do things because of it. Walking around is horrible most of the time because people stare at you wondering if you have cancer and then if you talk to them and tell them they either feel bad for you or treat you different even if it feels to them like they do not they really do. People do not look into other…

Yesterday was my first day with a wig, it was extremly uncomfortable. A really pretty front lace synthetic shoulder length dark brown. I guy at work said "someone whent to the hairdresser, Nice!". I should mention that last week I had a really short light brown haircut. So they don't seem to care or notice.
However pretty I looked I felt horrible, uncomfortable and just wanted to flush the wig down the toilet. But i couldn't because underneath was my horrible patchy unflattering…
